* Salt
* Noncarbonated soft drinks

* Bouillon products
* Dry pasta
* Powdered milk (in nitrogen-packed cans)
Use within one year:
* Canned condensed meat and vegetable soups
* Canned fruits, fruit juices and vegetables
* Ready-to-eat cereals and uncooked instant cereals (in metal containers)
* Peanut butter
* Jelly
* Hard candy and canned nuts
* Vitamin C
Use within six months:
* Powdered milk (boxed)
* Dried fruit (in metal container)
* Dry, crisp crackers (in metal container)
* Potatoes

MRE's have closer to a 15 year shelf life. 6  out of 9 found this valuable. Do you?

Weren't on the list :^)
Concentration on what could be found at the grocery store, several less common things left off. Also, no meat on the list, except soup.

meat can be stored for extended periods if you use either salting or canning. I'm choosing canning on this one cause you can make a vegetable stew with pieces of meat (beef, venison, etc) and store that for winter. I live in the north east U.S. so winter pretty much sucks ass, but hot soup on a day that is freezing balls is a nice pick me up. Plus you get the nutritional value of all of the vegetables and the meat without eating enough salt to give you a heart attack. 1  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?
