Tips on good writing.

Don't know if anyone will give the time to read this, but it's something I try to abide by.

1.) Your characters need flaws. It's so incredibly boring to read about characters that can "do anything they want to".

2.) Your characters need goals. All actions have a reaction. All reactions have a chance to make a new action. It's also incredibly boring to just have your character wait for something to happen.

3.) Don't waste time on useless titles. Ex: "I pulled out my double-barreled missle launching scoped scattershot/slug optional grenade launching cybo-arm brand .333 mega rifle and prepared for the invasion." (although it's ALRIGHT to show the importance of a certain item or weapon, nobody wants to read about how awesome it is. It makes your character more powerful than they need to be.)

4.) There should ALWAYS be an antagonist (Obviously, this story is about much more than just zombies) There needs to be bad relationships between characters.

5.) Punctuation. Please.

6.) Add twists to the plot. It makes it more interesting and more enjoyable to read.

7.) One more thing that I can think of at the moment: (I am guilty of this too) We need to kill off characters before adding more. (That means your own)

Anway, hope it helps.

I've always kind of wanted to try my hand at writing any advice for kicking off the story? How far into the timeline do you begin? Do you find this valuable?
