Traps for zombies
Oct 22 2008, 4:27 PM EDT | Post edited: Oct 22 2008, 4:27 PM EDT
Alright, I'm a big outdoors guy, and one of the most fun things I learned, was how to set up traps. Now, the use of traps has been outlawed in hunting for a long time......but not warfare. This one time I caught a guy on a fourwheeler...but that is a long story. What do you think of spike pits, malayan man-traps, lasso snares, and the like for the use of zombie destruction. Especially in a woodland environment. You could even throw some IED traps in there for kicks. They would have to be reset, but everything has it's drawbacks. What do you think? 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Another thing, weren't traps used extensively in guerrilla warfare?

The traps would only be able to impede movement or incapacitate them. You wouldn't really be able to kill any unless you checked them regularly. They would be a good idea for any permanent or temporary establishment/camp.

Simple loops/ snares are easy to do and work great, deadfalls can be useful but may not be very effective against zombies. Spike pits would, most likely, not kill them but would capture them (if the pit is deep enough)

why not just dig a 7 feet deep hole and when there is a zombie, just pour in some gasoline, or napalm Do you find this valuable?

Because then you will have the disgusting smell of human flesh being charred. I am guessing it isn't a very pleasant smell. But if your okay with that smell, more power to ya.

Mmmmmmmmm... Charred flesh.
I'm not much of a trap maker but holes would probably be a good way to get them without risking survivors lives all to greatly. They'd take time to make but it may be worth it.

Traps have their place but I am of the barrier persuasion when time and resources are scarce. A wide trench system and berm can be far more effective than setting up a series of traps or (if fortunate to have) a minefield. Using terrain and natural obstacles in combination with berms, fences and trenches/pits will channel threats in your favor. Along the way, traps can reduce the amount but not eliminate the threat. Minefields are 'one trick' ponies: are you going to 'refill/reload' the minefield after a dozen or so walk through it? 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Holy ****!!! That's EXACTLY what I was thinking!!! Although, I'd have about 12,000,000 volts plugged into that, if I can even MAKE that much power...

You would need a power plant to make that. Unless you can build or steal one, and then run it, fuel it and maintain it, it just won't happen.

Take an old-fashioned mousetrap. Add a couple of nails, a couple of shotgun shells, a couple inches of steel pipe, and some fishing line.

I think you know where I'm going with this. Just be really careful!

"what about things like gas cans, oxygen cylinders or propane tanks? just shoot them and they explode"
omg...seriosly on mythbusters (i think thats what it was) it took a minigun with incendiary rounds to penetrate a propane tank and it didnt even explode, if you think you could shoot a propane tank and make it blow up with any weapons you could find (or own) you will be one of the first to die in a zombie apocalypse
