What should be on Front?
Oct 29 2008, 11:34 PM EDT | Post edited: Oct 29 2008, 11:34 PM EDT
Say your going to make a zombie killing car or one just to get you threw hordes in general, what should be on Front?
I mean, should you have it concave? Convex? Spikes? Others?
What would you put? and Which would be best?

I would go with convex and a smooth or slightly sawtoothed edge. Toothed like a carpenters saw so Zed would slide by without getting hung up. Slight downward slope also, self-cleaning so you don't have to get out and sweep off the remains. Do you find this valuable?

Assuming that you are close enough to the poles to need a snowplow. We usually get salt and sand or wait for it to melt.

What about counter-rotating saw blades, one set on the left moving stuff toward the left and mirror image on the right? Chain saw chain running the width of the vehicle, plus a little bit? Hydraulic motor to drive it, use a power steering pump to drive the motor.

I am thinking more on the killing aspect than the get through aspect. Of course that is also assuming that you have a secure base that you can operate from and a reason to go hunting zombies. For getting through, there is a lot of large farm equipment around here, and most of it is designed for rice crops and otherwise flooded fields, should float over bodies pretty well also.

Some type of wedge, like a cow-catcher on the old trains. A plow, if available, would be ideal. I'm guessing you just want to move them and not have to worry about excessive infected blood.

That make me wonder how effective driving a combine through a crowd of zeds would work....do we have any farmers here?

Not enough torque delivered, would clog and jam pretty fast. Of course my knowledge is a few years out of date, new ones might be better, but I wouldn't expect them to be that much better. Economics, farmers don't need more power to harvest crops.

You can build a cattlecatcher from a section or slowplow or road grader. Just cut it in the center, then the two cut edges at approximately 35º angles, then join them together. Not AS simple as it sounds, but very doable.

¿Byates, what would be the possibility of building a cattlecatcher, with some sort of thresher bin at the top? If the skin job doesn’t either get the fuck out of the way or get knocked out of the way, then they hit the thresher gear and get chopped into VERY BIG, but very DEAD pieces…

Torque still a problem, would be doable for one at a time but could get plugged and jammed with more. Shape the cowcatcher like a C that way they would just be dumped back to the ground.

Spikes would catch and hold them, allowing them to pile up and come over the hood after you. Bad Ideal.

Oh yeah. forgot about it. ummm.... maybe: (I'll just be imagining kids stuff over here)

Front Bumpers: Machine Gun(Maybe reload-able Inside the car), Spikes(Goes outside the bumper and goes inside again[in and out] so they will not pile up)Side Skirts: Rotating Blades. Wheels: Spikes. Rears: (heated metal don't work against zombies) Tax, Big chunk o' metal (Just like Death Race™)re-attachable. Back seats:(just remove the seat) Put some nitrous tank over there to boost you up, and don't forget to bring extra Friends to cover you at the back. Roof: machine gunner. NOTE: If you are stuck and nowhere to run just get your Grenades and be exploded rather than to be eaten alive.

Spikes could be useful as long as they're smooth and maybe rubbed down with lubricant. It'll let the zombies slide off after being impaled, so if they're headshot-only jobs, they won't survive and require disposal, and if they're rage zombies they'll likely be killed or put very near death. Angling them downward to facilitate sliding helps as well. Do you find this valuable?

No, they’ll still get stuck.
Simple example- You hold up a steak and spear it with your knife. ¿What happens? You’re holding the steak with your knife. You’ll have to remove it somehow.
