Special forces LED flashlight
Nov 8 2008, 7:19 PM EST
I was at CVS and came across this flashlight. Would it be good to be to attach to our weapons or is there something better and cheaper? http://www.amazon.com/Special-Forces-Extreme-Beam-Flashlight/dp/B000BXH39M

No. The light from that would just attract Zs and hurt your vision. Check out surefire.com, you can get a light like my G2 Nitrolon for 36 bucks and a red filter to protect your night vision. Incadescent bulb, but whiter and brighter than any LED I've ever seen.

(even if it IS an effective tool) you need battery life and durability. stick with the LED lights, but buy the surefire LED model of the G2 (about $60 online) i've had mine for over a year, only had to change the batteries once, and it's mounted on my yugo ak-47ab2 Do you find this valuable? |

" a red filter to protect your night vision."Myth http://stlplaces.com/night_vision_red_myth/ The main issue then is intensity; color is only an issue because the rods (responsible for night vision) are most sensitive at a particular color. That color is a blue-green (507nm) similar to traffic light green (which is this color for a entirely different reason). Do you find this valuable? |

yea, i got mine in black. it's one of the most generic of the surefire lights, but i've never had an issue with it. if you crank a bit more cash into a g4 LED or something of the sort, you'll get even more durability, (friend has one and he dropped it down a cliff edge while hiking into a shallow pond... took us an hour to get to it, and the thing still worked
