Watch out for the Home-made stuff

When you start making these explosives, you can never forget to evaluate how dangerous some of these materials can be. When you make a pipe bomb, or a Molotov Cocktail, you need to think of how efeective they're REALLY going to be. Unless you need it for burning bodies or clearing a room, there's no real point to alot of this stuff. Also, what is the danger of a backfire? If that happens with ammonia, theres a good chance you can DIE. Alot of bomb-makers end up with missing fingers or burns on thier bodies. Good luck shooting a skin-job without a trigger finger. There is an off chance that you will need one or two of these things, but even so, there's a good chance that there are other solutions to your dilema. Point being, don't be inconsiderate and reckless. Evaluate, THEN execute. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

the corollary being: if you have pre-made explosives (fireworks, C-4, etc) and you KNOW HOW TO USE IT, (i stress this mainly with the C-4. if you are not a professional with it, stay away) then they can be used for timed distractions to lure Zs away from where you are. good for escape or momentary diversion, the equivalent of a paint grenade on a paintball field. not amazingly effective for damage, but it will turn heads away from yours. What about really quick homemade grenades? I've heard that using pretty much any aerosol can, you can just use duct tape to hold the sprayer down and use a lighter(stick lighter preferably) to light the stream. Then throw the can and the fire should run up the stream and into the can, causing a quick and diversionary explosion. That said I do see the danger, hold it too long and it kills or burns you, you could light the aerosol in the air if your not careful, and you could easily light something or someone else on fire if you aren't very cautious. Do you find this valuable?

If you ask me, Molotovs are pretty useful when a horde of them are trying to get through the fencing of your safehouse... (If there's a fencing.) A horde of them standing there trying to get in would make easy target for a Molotov. Other than that, I agree with you that people should avoid using explosives... Do you find this valuable?

They don't explode easily. They'll just sit there spewing flames.
OR, they'll explode when you're trying to use them as a flamethrower.
Too unreliable. Even tossing them directly into a fire can take several minutes

not to mention, it'd really be a fireball with some light shrapnel.
Enough to not do any damage to a target, but enough to be a risk to the user

Yeah, more than likely the can would just break open and spew flames for a few seconds, without any real boom. Do you find this valuable?
