I'd like to point out..

The Springfield M1A SOCOM II is purchasable by a civilian. In fact that's who it is for. The reason it "has a short 16-inch barrel" is becasue thats the smallest barrel allowed by law for civilians. just like to point out...

Yeah, the M1A SOCOM and other springfield variants are civilian legal. I do not in any way condone owning a fully automatic weapon even if you ACTUALLY believe that the world is going to be over run by movie monsters but you can own all these weapons as a civilian if you go through proper NFA channels and are willing to pay an arm and a leg in taxes. Again, owning a fully automatic weapon is a ridiculous, dangerous and silly idea. if you want a rifle for "home defense" (which again is a strange concept considering you aren't going to get into a tactical fire fight with a bugler trying to steal your stereo) the AR-15 and springfield M1A are both reliable and civilian legal. The second amendment was created as an insurance policy against tyranny. Don't abuse your right and waste your money by having a military grade armory in your basement; if your home is broken into and these highly dangerous weapons are stolen, you have directly contributed to violent crime and death. Zombies are fun to talk about but be pragmatic and most importantly responsible with firearms. These are in no way toys.

Have you ever considered that people who own automatics do so simply because they're fun to shoot and look cool and impressive at the range? If someone went through all the proper channels and headaches it takes to get a machine gun, they probably aren't the local rednecks who keep their shotguns in the corner, fully loaded with the safety off, so quit painting automatic weapon owners as irresponsible kiddies.

Everyone needs a hobby. Might as well have one that will help you survive the apocalypse.

Does that make me a redneck or is it only the ones with the safety off? Do you find this valuable? |

My shotty is kept loaded, safety off, with an empty chamber. I`m a lefty, so racking the action is a lot easier than fumbling with the safety.
