Churches and hospitals compared to cemetaries
Dec 23 2008, 8:21 PM EST
Chuches are terrible places to put up base. There will be religious goons all over spilling out their hearts to god and that will attract the undead. With the huge doors and high set windows it would be perfect if you can empty them of people. I, myself, would hide in the bell tower or steeple. I just can't imagine finding one empty of people.. Hospitals aren't too high on my hide out spots either. The infected would be immediatly taken there, where they would turn. I wouldn't be caught dead in a hospital during a breakout.. I would set up base in a cemetary. I would break into a mausoleam with my supplies and bunk in with the dead. Since they're brains have been long since deactivated it is a secure place. Sure its really creepy but still, if its safe I'm going for it. Also setting up a tree fort wouldnt be a bad idea either. <3 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

"zombies cannot climb, your safe for some time..."I will set you personal attacks aside for the moment and address the TACTICAL situation: Firstly, you ASSUME skin jobs can't climb. I don't. When they DO climb right up the tree and eat you, I will not be suffering for ti. Cori?: I don't know what kind of Chapels YOU have expirience with, but the nes I've been in had SMALL windows (bottom to top were ussually pretty long at 6-8', but at 4-6" wide, you ain't getting much through that) and not that many of them, thick doors, and are almost impentarable. The "religions nuts" inside the chapel- Probably would already BE dead. Not tunred, but ragged piles of bones and torn cloth at odd angles. Not much there to actually worry about. Keep in mind, we live in the post-Birmingham world. Even in deeply "faithful" areas of all Christians, Christian chucrches GET bombed every once in a while. I smell old, worn leather and athletes foot hanging in the near-future... Do you find this valuable? |

Most of the Churches I have been in would be easy to defend. The only exception was a tent Church in Iraq. Hospitals would be useful to scavenge from after a few weeks. But not a great place to hold out. There are usually allot of windows and doors. To scavenge you should go there a week before and prop open the doors so the skin jobs can wander out and make some noise out side to get their attention. Do you find this valuable? |

"finding a church empty of people can be easy... just make sure you brought enough ammo with you and go room by room. eventually, you'll have you're very own church, people free. in addendum, if you clear out a church in homicidal rampage, you might die. but then you won't need a base. and i don't know why'd you wanna hang out in a church. way too many entry points, and no real resources except what you bring. (maybe a few basins of clean water in the holy water basins and baptismal fountains) no weapons, very little to no food, lot's of ways in.... i don't see the pros outweighing the cons. a church may serve as a shelter for a while, but definitely not a defnsible position in the long term. it's not a base. Yeah. . . there's no sure way to determine just how defensible somethig is without seeing it, so generalizing isn't the best way to figure these things out. That said. . . if I come upon an old bomb shelter. . . I might just stay there for a while, if I've got batteries for lights.

i have already chosen one spot to hide and defend during the outbreak there's a pic in my profile if you want to see churches could be a good places to hide but they could also be the worst places to hide it all depends on the type of church you are talking about cemeteries i just would not feel comfortable sleeping on my dead relatives Do you find this valuable? |

I know its been like two years since this one has been posted on but i'd find it worrying sleeping in a cemetary, have yopu seen Night of Living Dead? Urgh... Hospitals I suspect wouldn't be nice, as if your ill you end out there... Churches, well in the United Kingdom they tend to be old styled, big heavy wooden doors with high of the ground stain glass windows... Sounds safety to me... Do you find this valuable? |

Agreed. Daviiddd, if you want to talk on this topic, make a new thread with pros and cons of each side. It's a topic worth exploring, but better done from a fresh start. Do you find this valuable? |
