I could only take 1 or 2 rifles and 2 or 3 handgunsyou have to take in account the weight of all the ammo, and the weight of all the gear you're taking 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

is the .308 semi or bolt action? M1 worthless- AR-15 might take multiple shots to take down at long range- .357 is nice but the have to be close and who wants them that close- .22 worthless is the 12 gauge sawed down or tactical? If it was me- I would that the - AR-15 with acog scope Glock 17 with high cap mag 12 sawed off all excellent for different types of work- 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Take the 12 guage and, tactical or not, saw it off. If the stock is collapsible, leave it on. Strap it to your back, or make a a leather sheath. thats what id do.Take the Glock, and give it a high cap mag and a laser site. Try to find an under shoulder holster. Bring the AR-15 and give it a red dot site, but bring an ACOG for longer range shots. Try to track down a machete. keep the rifles at your fort. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

i have an AR-15 and its a very good gun but seems to be a but heavy in the front and the strap gets in the way which is an easy fix but other than that i don't really have a problem with it at all

M1 Garand, camo-painted AR15 with scope, regular AR15those all shoot the same round so go with the AR with a scope (when it comes to close range use a pistol.) when using an ar its range is good from 50yds out to about 600yds (medium range to long range) and at 200yds + the wind will have massive effects of the round especially if its a 55gr round. if you want to make long shots go with a good match grade round such as nosler or hornady. and be sure they are a boatail round those produce less drag and better stabilization for a more accurate shot. now with a .308 depending on what round you use you can make an effective head shot up to and over 1100yds with the proper techniques and proper windage and elevation calculations. once you get out to that distance with a bullet they go subsonic and start to tumble end over end and so far from what i have found is that there is a company that makes match grade round made for that distance and reduces the tumbling action, the company is called berger bulltes. The best combination for a .308 rifle is remington 700 sps Varmint, with a HS precision A5 after market stock, Trued action (where the receiver and the barrel meet gets smoothed out so there is no lip damaging the bullet affecting accuracy and for better cycling of the rifle), leupold mark 4 long range tactical rifle scope 30mm tube 8.5-25x 50mm, with a harris 6x9 bipod. that is your "Basic" Marine corps M40A5 sniper rifle. the .22 rifle and the .22 pistols is also a good selction cause you can carry HUGE quantities of .22 rounds, go to walmart and pick up a box of 550 rounds for 16 bucks imagine spending 200 bucks for .22 rounds? thats alot of bullets. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. 12ga is ok if you use it inside but you might go deaf, and a good round to use in the 12ga is 3inch buckshot 15 pellet. specifically winchester shotgun shells44mag is good and powerful but thats just another gun and more ammo you gotta carry the 1911 and glock is a good choice, the 1911 is a 45acp and you can get a glock chambered in the same caliber but when it comes to price the glock is about $500 cheaper. they both are accurate pistols but the glock is much easier to clean, also i have found it to be one of the only pistols you can wash in a washing machine and it still works flawlessly, if that has been done be sure to lube it with some rust inhibitor. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. the 357 is also good but then again its not a very versatile gun. and most of the time you are gonna find a 357 in a revolver plat for which makes for longer reloading and limited to most likely 6 shots at a time.

iv used the .308 a lot actually as i write this i can look over and see it,it is a bolt action and good for long range shots but unless as stated above you can calculate in wind speed distance ext... long shots are not advised just a waste of ammo

my appologies i mistook the m1 garand for the mini 14. *Banging head against brick wall* the m1 garand is essentialt the same as the m14 used back before the m16 in vietnam and the standard issue weapon in WWII. the M1 garand shoots a .308 nato round (7.62x54, not to be mistaken for the 7.64x54r which is used in the dragonovs, and mosin nagant russian rifles) just like the .308 rifle but your better off to go with an AR15 if you are going with a semi automatic rifle, you can have 30 rounds to a magazine with an AR compared to the m1 garands 5 round internal magazine.

A hand weapon with more than one use should be your backup, and if you are daring, a pistol as well.

15. ZSharpShooter, fact check...
Dec 29 2008, 2:15 AM EST
Before you continue to litter up the Wiki with more half truths, check facts please.Garand, M1 and variants, WW2/Korea vintage, fires the 30-06, 7.62x63mm cartridge. 8-round en-bloc "clip" capacity. If you care to get all Wikipedia on me, there have been some re-arsenal built into 7.62x51NATO. Never issued on large scale in that caliber. M14/M1A Springfield and other variants are built in and shoot 7.62x51NATO. Some have been built in other calibers, all based on the 308Win cartridge, AFAIAA never used past miniscule testing for uS.mil and target use. M14 is select fire. Certain pre-May'86 M1A's are select fire and "transferrable". There are Post Sample M1A's with select fire. FFL/SOT, .mil, .gov own those. All are in X51 for the 99%. As for your handgun pricing, I'd ask you check again, and return with something more than SWAG please. Please quit with your KidDIE STRpE ballistics and what a slug does or does not do at the end of its travels. Your presentation has NO basis in fact (See Hatcher's Notebook, found via link in my profile) based on professional ballisticians testing and reports. "available- M1 Garand, camo-painted AR15 with scope, regular AR15, .357, .308, M1911, Glock, .44 Magnum, .22 rifle, .22 pistol, and a 12 gaugeAn Ar15, your holstered 357 pistol, and stuff the 1911 and Glock into your gear with all the mags you can find spaces for. AR is a predominant sporting rifle, .223 Remington is about everywhere. 357mag/38Spl ammo same. If you can carry the 22 rifle on your pack and not have it in way, do so. May prove valuable later. One rifle for in hand, always Condition Orange use. Handgun in unobstructed holster where it can be pulled with weak hand. (I like a chest hunter holster on my pack gear for this). Extra ammo as you've trained to carry it. Mags for the AR, Speed Strips or -loaders for your revolver. Do NOT overburden yourself in an escape mode with too much shit. There will be enough leftover after you are safe to go pickup to replenish. If you feel need, stash your gear let behind in as safe a place as you might. Come back later to score it again. Too much gear on your body and not enough *gears* in your feet gonna make sure you are backup singer in UnkleZed's Undead Again Band.. SnC *RunFatmanRUN!* 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

And as for the price of a 1911 and a glock. last i checked i got my 1911 for about 1200 and i got my glock for 450 so i think im pretty sure about the cost of the guns. 0 out of 1 found this valuable.
