Rotate wire in a magnetic field or rotate a magnetic field around with and you have electricity.

Having prior training in electricity and it's practice, I have to say that having a simple understandinof electricity will help you in the future.
I can create a simple electricity gathering engine with simple supplies that will work with wind, or water. With that kind of understanding, having electricity in the future will be easy. You should look into it.

However, you need to figure out what you want to run, and how you're gong to run it from these turbines.
Here's a list of questions you need to ask yourself:
1. Is the appliance I need to run A/C or D/C?
2. My battery stores only d/c power, should I only have d/c running appliances?
3. How willI create a diode to create d/c power from an a/c turbine?
4. Do I understand how to fully utilize this a/c source of power?
and finally,
5. Is having electrical power truly important to my future, or just a burden holding me back from finding other ways to do the things I need?

I hope this helps with your idea, and maybe spurs you to read into this a little more. Great idea, though!
