OOOOHHH!That gives me an awesome idea! Have you ever seen anything on cornstarch suspension? The right mixture makes a semi-solid. If you run across it, you don't sink in at all. . . and if you're a shambling undead, you just sink in like it's water! Imagine that. . . a HUGE deep moat made from cornstarch and water. Human beings can just run across, and zombies naturally would just sink, and if you put some sort of punji sticks or other trap at the bottom, you've got a stuck zombie. Brilliant! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

that works for a few of the horde but what happens when say...even a couple dozen come? how deep is this trench of yours going to be? within a short amount of time you will soon have a wonderful zombified landbridge. yeah that was on mythbusters, it would make for a good idea if you could get them out of the trench afterwards and had some massive storages of cornstarch but you could use it for better things than making a pit for zombies. for a trap to be effective against the horde it needs to be easily maintainted and have the ability to not clog with the masses. i would say use mud instead of cornstarch but then would you really want to waste the water? over all i would say the best bet would be forgo the traps unless they are for human scavengers/raiders and instead focus on protection and defenses such as building your house in a tree or one hell of a good wall. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Just an idea, dude. Personally, I'll be inside my hill, shut off from worrying about that, aside from culling my crops of corn, and routine maintenance to my filters and ventilation piping, so I'm not worried about traps, zombies, raiders, or weather. Do you find this valuable? |

Why stop with quick sand. Go on up and use lye or beter yet acid. All you would need is some lye( find in concret isle in hardware store) and fill a 3.5foot deep trench. Cover it up and boom your zombie free since lye or acid will last a long time without water and snow to dilute it and it is human prof too. Ohh and for cornstarch quick sand for a mid sized bowel is a box of cornstarch( 16 ounces) and 1.5 to two cups of water. Allthough who has that much cornstarch

"Anyone knows how to make something like quicksand? (cornstarch being an example)"Ah, this idea is fracking cool! Now this is an example of utilizing a plethora of ideas to make things work. I won't add more now but this idea is brilliant. Kudos and plaudits. Do you find this valuable? |

"OOOOHHH!Genious! it's so perfect. You can't use lye and acid for your main entrance because you can't get across so it would be fantastic and just for the idea bucket you don't need that much cornstarch you could use a different non-neutonian fluid like (as weird as it is) a giant pit filled with ketchup scavenged from grocery stores or cosco for that huge amount of ketchup Do you find this valuable? |

...or if your in Britain you could use custard but I don't go there much so I don't know how much custard your average store would stock there

It would only need to be deep enough to slow the zombie to a crawl, then it can be shot, but that's only if you have massive amounts of ammo.Bear traps would be an excellent trap. The zed would either stay there long enough for a sniper to get the head shot, or it would rip it's foot off and not be able to walk very fast if at all. Do you find this valuable? |

i like the pit of cornsrarch suspension, except why does it have to be deep when all you need is 1 foot deep, and the zombies are slowed making easy targets.not only this but if they were the rager types just walking along and step in the cornstarch they cant charge at you and you can shoot them. what about fluidized sand? have a deep pit of sand about ten feet deep, with perforated pipes underneath. You give it a blast of compressed air and the sand turns into a fluid, zombies sink, kill the air and they are buried under ten feet of sand.

"Wouldn't really work, starchy custard is a non-Newtonian liquid..."UHH that's why it would work. The whole point is to fill a giant pit with a non-neutonian liquid so that you could sprint across it to safety while the zombies all sink into the pit. I don't think you understand the point of the trap. Do you find this valuable? |
