the thing to remember is

the most likely form of zombie would probably be similar to that of the 28 Days Later zombies, since voodoo (magical) zombies are just downright silly, and since nothing can be animated if its dead and decaying,

the most likely scenario would be that a pathogen causes people to lose their minds and attack anything that moves (rage virus theory)

as interesting at the T-Virus is, even if there was a virus that could re-animate dead cells, the creature wouldnt be able to move, it would simply be a corpse-shaped mass of re-animated cells on the ground

back the the rage zombies, they would be quick moving (as fast as a human can sprint) and careless about pain or self-preservation
they would be subject to the basic human laws that they cannot survive more then 2-4 days without water and 1-2 weeks without food before succumbing to dehydration or starvation

being that a pathogen that makes you crazy is more likely then a pathogen that re-animates the dead or causes gross mutations then this is the most likely Z-Day we will face; quick moving, but not long lasting zombies

holding out two months would likely mean survival (then again the surviving the collapse of society and such might be a different issue)

so yes i believe they would be fast

I would actually prefer rage zombies, they can die the same way as the rest of us. You can use gas such as chlorine or Mustard or even tear gas would cause them to at least be blinded. I don't care how pissed they are, tear gas will choke and blind them long enough for you to get away or take them out. Do you find this valuable?
