Zombie Scavenging
Feb 19 2009, 11:51 AM EST
Even a Zed can have full pockets, don't be ashamed to take purses, wallets, and keys if they are easy to get to. Drivers liscenses have addresses and addresses can lead.IMPORTANT: Don't stick your hands into a Zed's front pockets, reflex and instinct can leave you with a stuck hand if you are suddenly ambushed. Instead use your knife to slice open the pockets to get to the goods. 16 out of 17 found this valuable. Do you?

Aye, but reclaiming otherwise soiled items (thanks to our friend biological decay), can be additionally complicated. If you're planning to use any peice of equipment or supplies you find on a deceased corpse, do everything you can to clean and sterelize these items. As you mentioned though, looting a corpse should be your last task when engaging infected. 7 out of 7 found this valuable. Yeah, totally! After a large, arduous battle, you may aswell reep a reward. I'd probably lead a small team of 3-5 to do battlefield sannitation, then a reverse sweep with the same team to recover any items. you never know, zack may have a box of ammo in his pocket, maybe even some form of modern day tressure map, leading you to a bunker full of food and water, comfy beds, guns, ammo and solar/wind energy.... now THAT would be worth searching 1,000 rotting corpses for! 1 out of 2 found this valuable. That's a good point, I've never really thought about "Zombie Scavenging". Who knows what they could have on them.. you could end up finding some useful items (Weapons, Meds, Trade Items).

"I don't feel that taking peoples key and pocket knives if really worth it. Is there anything Else I could look for?"Drugs!! 8D See that box marked 'gun storage?' See that dead guy slumped up next to it? I think searching for keys would be a good thing to do then or in similar circumstances. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"lock pick or drill and hammer"I'd say that if the keys can't be found, but hey, you never know what you'll find....Maybe a loaded CCW pistol, maybe a pack of playing cards, a flashlight, a nice knife or brass knuckles, a wallet with cards to surplus shops in the local area, all of those items are worth searching a confirmed dead person/Zombie in a relatively safe area for....The smell'll be something less than desirable though xD Do you find this valuable? |

A revolver, a potato, and a stick. Walk up poke the head if no movement wait 2 secs and roll over face down. Pat down, with your knee across the back left/right shoulder blade. Tuck your boot under you don't want daedhead chomping your toes. Revolver is placed in base of neck or collar. Primary wpn on a 3 point sling tucked behind you. If you have a rucksack on I suggest you get the Gear Bearing System from Kifaru.net This is my favorite and eventual BOB the Xray http://www.kifaru.net/MGXray.htm And this is the gun bearer system http://www.kifaru.net/MGgunber.htm This is IMO the best piece of kit closest to a firearm. This bag and system. with this your gun is infront of you where it belongs not dropping or swaying. Its a lifesaver on the constant hand movement required to tuck it away and whip it around.. I don't see the need to pick the pockets of the dead unless you are looking for something specific. You are in bedlam, cash money is worthless and zombies are unlikely to carry food, water or fuel. What you are doing is digging around needlessly on a corpse that is infected with t he most deadly affliction the world has ever known. Not worth the risk for some worthless money and maybe something shiny. 4 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |
