wtf?
Mar 15 2009, 1:32 PM EDT
Why does ebery one have to steal? Start getting ready for any event now. Real or imagined. You stay put. Have a back up plan, bring people to the strongest, best supplied fortification, reinforce, bunker down, and wait. Period. It has worked for every miltary strategy in history. The outcome is survival. Fortification is the key. Buy time, and thwart off. Await reinforcements. Any body that isnt posing understands this. Any military training, past or present, understands this concept. What makes you think that you will be the only ones with the raid and plunder plan. You may be the casualty on your way into the garage. The irony is this is actually the recommended policy by Homeland Security for any event. Keep the street clear. This web site is fun, the situations or contingincies may be real or imagined. The wisdom comes in preparation and execution of a plan with some variance. Start a new realistic plan.

And let's say you lose your supplies to bandits. You can't eat ideals and you can't drink dreams bud.

Your point being that any situation as it evolves is best addressed by continued evolution through motion? Bandits won't strike your "caravan?" They will wait patiently until you arrive, right? And traveling statistically draws LESS attention. Which is why thieves and, special operationunits move in red clothing with sirens blazing only to surprise their "targets" when they get there. Ideals? This is not supposed to be a post for dissertations on ideals conjured up in your favorite Steven Segal flick. Have fun with it but be real. You truly believe with all of your knowledge and training that a "well secured base of operations" is subject to a bandit attack with less likelyhood of thwarting off an attack than your group in a pick up? Everyone so eager to "surrender" their "stuff" for your survival?

All these ideas are great but be clear. In a Z world stealing would be a requirment. I couldn't understand the quoted comment but I do think a base is better than a truck or other vehicle. Every one will be taking what they need. Its just nuts that we can assume there will be no one messing up our plan. Murphy's law each time boys. Look at how long Stalingrad held. Look at how long Berlin held, Dunkirk, North Africa, even Iraq's "most fortified city." A siege can be thwarted, not always to a good outcome, but postponed, deflected, send someone else to mess with someone else. You have to stay put. People steal when poorly prepared, or have no choice. People who steal non essential items, tv's and electronics, they have no clue.

And we do plan for the worst while hoping for the best. Do you find this valuable? |

"when talking about a fortification, secrecy is the greatest virtue. it doesnt matter how well you defenses are, raiders even zombies will eventually breach your defenses if they know there is something to be had. that being said....... have a fortress, that is well guarded, boarded up whatever, but most importantly keep it a secret. be careful when and how you move in/out or around the hideout. those people who "have no clue" and are looting tv's and such will die from zombies or from idiotic violence. be prepared before hand. when the catastrophy goes down...... stay in the safest place and lay low & quiet till the idiots and psychos kill each other. then make your move to scavenge for other supplies. like carnack you have me confused what you are talking about Do you find this valuable? |

" The irony is this is actually the recommended policy by Homeland Security for any event. Keep the street clear."They don't give a flying shit whether or not you survive, they just want you out of the way and not causing more trouble. How long will YOU survive? How many people to feed in your house? You better have a basement FULL (floor to ceiling, wall to wall) of drinking water, or you are going to be prying the nails out of your own boarded up front door sooner than you think.
