Why not just use actual concrete or sandbags? Or, for that matter, why not just use tires filled with dirt (although that wouldn't accomplish much)?

In short, what use does this have that you couldn't use a tarp or canvas for?

Well the concrete would give it much greater strength and if you combined with earth embeddment it only increase the strength of the structure. Using standard concrete to form a structure would be time consuming, require alot of machinery and atleast 3 days of curing unless you know enough about concrete and can add accelerators tot he concrete without causing problems with its strength.

In short, this is an easy no mess way to create a shelter. I do however have concerns about its weight and actual non deployed shelf life. Any moisture will start the hydration process of the concrete and once cement sets those bonds are made and cannot be remade so the storage life of the shelter prior to using it would a problem. Other than that, they are really quite impressive.
