It wouldn't get too far; shotgun shells are notoriously un-aerodynamic. Plus the stabilizing fins on a dart are too small to balance a projectile that has now doubled in size and weight. There is a similar rig that does work, however. It is called a "nut-buster" and is featured in Kurt-Saxon's "Poor Man's James Bond Vol. 1." You take that same shell, glue fins to it, and affix a small cork to the primer with a nail in it pointed inwards, so that the shell itself has effectively become a dart. You then lob it into a crowd, and upon impact it may discharge, blowing the crotchal regions off of any poor bastard unlucky enough to be caught above it. Best served in volleys so as to maximize the element of surprise and kick off an ambush or assault. Another good use for surplus shotgun ammo is defensive in nature, and is the infamous toe-popper. You mount the shell under the ground with a plank above it (also works on stairs, floorboards, etc.) on top of a carpenter nail. When stepped on, the pressure pushes down on the nail and engages the primer, discharging the cartridge and blowing the foot/knee/balls/etc off of the trespasser. Do you find this valuable? |

And how does this do anything? You end up with a can of bug spray with a shotgun shell taped to the bottom.

Raid isn't all that harmful outdoors anyway. You would have to hotbox the shit to notice any negative effect.

Seriously, how is this going from a shell and a can of bugspray to a bomb? Is there some unmentioned firing device that won't leave you missing a hand?

I think he literally meant taping a shotgun shell, business end up, underneath a can of bug spray so that when it discharges the can explodes.... which is about as aerodynamic as a napkin, and half as likely to cause any significant injury.

Glue two matches together with the heads on either end thusly o=====oTape one head to the primer of a shotshell, when it ignites, it should be hot enough to set off the primer. Adapt this to your favorite boobytrap Do you find this valuable? |

"If you happen to find some sharp tipped darts and some shotgun shells you can't use, try this.Well, there are a little invention called flechette shells... they are about thirty little steel darts loaded into a 12 gauge shell on top of a wadding. They are devastatingly effective - My buddy's bought the darts by the pound and loaded them into some high brass (comparing weights shot vs flechettes) and we've penetrated through reinforced firedoors with them, 000 Buck doesn't penetrate as well as flechettes. http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/AMM005-1.html Try them out. Cheapest way to do it is buy them by the pound and get some 12 gauge or 20 gauge 7.5 shot, snip the top of the shell's husk and pour out most of the shot, load in 20 flechettes and seal it back up - works wonderfully.
