Plastic Explosive Filler Question
Mar 31 2009, 8:48 AM EDT
In my army surplus Improvised munitions handbook, the first page has a recipe for plastic explosive filler, by combining 9 parts of finely powdered potassium chlorate to 1 part vaselineI just wonder if this could be adapted to other substances or fomulae, such as smokeless powder or aluminum powder and rust. Do you find this valuable?

Don't be messing with that stuff or you will end up blown into bits. I'm not joking. Even if you could manufacture explosives the chances of the ATF or FBI catching on to what you are doing are pretty high...

Yeah, that stuff seems too dangerous to screw with in your backyard.

Really, the two people who posted before me had it down, but there are too many people talking about homeade explosives on this site. You should always think about this question, unless you REALLY know what you are doing:What would happen if this exploded RIGHT NOW? Do you find this valuable? |

I don't think the filler is suppose to be explosive. I was thinking the same thing about thermite, like to add it when you jellying something flammable. Idk, only one way to find out, I have 12lbs of rust just no aluminum oxide. I don't know about cracking open bullets to get the powder out. Doesn't it also mention sugar?

apart from being illegal and liable to get you arrested plastic explosive is quite stable, however some of the ingredients are EXTREMELY dangerous, so it is best not to mess with them without proper knowledge or the right equipment...like a 2ft thick concrete wall with you on the other side of it.plastic explosive suspension/fill most likely wont work well with black powder as its designed for the containment/stabilization of the less stable elements of the explosive which most likely will result in fizzling with BP. The very best bonding agent for black powder is one of the simplest for any homemade explosive and that is stale urine, it has oxygen, ammonia, and is non reactive so wile bonding the BP it actually helps in combustion of the BP. you can also add flower(or something similar) to the stale urine to thicken it into a suspension/filler material rather than just using it as a bonding agent, however as BP can be ignited through heat, compression, friction, etc. it is far less stable than plastic, but its also far easier and safer to make.
