there are some items in these list that can be replaced for smaller, lighter, items. some can be thrown out all together:1x large maglite (replace with L.E.D. headlamp.) 1x thermal roll mat for those clear nights under the roof of my fortress(throw away) 1x gas stove and mess tins(throw away, or get a collapsable sterno stove and sterno fuel. lighter, smaller) 1x camelbak thermobak 2 litre & 1x vacuum sealed travel mug(how much do you need in 1 B.O.B.?) 1x entrenching tool(not sure how big or heavy this is. possible throw away?) this all was in WILLAGE's B.O.B Do you find this valuable?

"there are some items in these list that can be replaced for smaller, lighter, items. some can be thrown out all together:the point is to get rid of useless items, or items that can be replaced for smaller and/or lighter items. multi-tools are great to replace many things in a B.O.B. remember you have to carry these things around Do you find this valuable? |

"the point is to get rid of useless items, or items that can be replaced for smaller and/or lighter items. multi-tools are great to replace many things in a B.O.B.The camelbak must stay. Hell, I would say up the water level even more. A 3 liter camelbak, in combat, will last maybe an hour. When you are fighting for your life you will drink enormous amounts of water. One of the hardest parts of combat is the physical exertion. You can wear yourself out in a matter of minutes. You gotta have water to keep moving. Do you find this valuable? |

"there are some items in these list that can be replaced for smaller, lighter, items. some can be thrown out all together:Headlight is good, lighter, hands free. Possibly the adventure lights VIP style light? They're modular and durable as hell. The thermos isn't really necessary, but having several nalgenes would be prudent, you could use them as waterproof containers and you'd have a ready way to hold water if your camelbak fails. Camelbaks are great, they keep you hydrated, they're easy to fill and most can be attached to web gear quite easily. Most E tools are about a third the length of a full size shovel and fold. I wouldn't toss the MagLite. If it's one of the really big ones, you could use it as a club in a pinch.

Yeah, but a MagLite isn't that heavy, and you can't beat someone with an L.E.D. headlamp. Honestly, I'd carry both, because if one breaks in the dark you are fucked.

Mag Lights will put out allot more light than a head lamp, and allot further. A head lights fine in a confined space but if you are traveling or get stuck walking in the dark I want the mag for the extra light, and longer distance view.

Are red-coated lights really all their cracked up to be? I've heard several times that using a red beam rather than the conventional white light will do wonders for your night vision.Any truth to that? If so, you don't even have to necessarily buy one of those expensive tactical red lights. If I'm not mistaken (which I may be), you can simply tape red cellophane over your conventional light.
