A little note about long-term plans.....
Apr 8 2009, 6:15 PM EDT
Long term plans are on everybody's mind. taking back a mile, city, country, continenet, world. but you wanna know what i plan to do.don't let it escalate into long- term!!!!!!!!! No REAL survival gide says anything about barricading your house or stockpiling supplies. i have actually read a book written on how to survive a mass mob. it said the first step is to assume nowhere is safe.It also mentions that hiding will only trap you in a situation. and you'r suppplies will run out before you kill them. Remember the tower of safety? how you mocked it because it would be miserale and we'd starve. Well, if you've ever lived anywhere with no power, you'd realize it sucks. It's cold. it is never sanitary. food rots. dead zombies rot. burning dead zombies smell bad. My opiion is to leave niow and screw everything else, what do you think about this? 1 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?

What exactly is this discussion about? If I understand you correctly, you are advocating going total nomad verses hunkering down, I'm not sure that is thought out anymore than the 'tower of safety.'The answer may lie between the two extremes (solid fort that becomes a prison or wandering around not knowing if the next mile may be your last) Any survivor would need a safe spot to rest, refit and recharge. If you are constantly on the go (no matter what mode of transport), you may run a greater risk than finding a temporary base of operations. A safer bet may be a series of safe houses or knowing where the 'clear' zones are. I believe an examination of exactly how mobile you intend to be, the size of the surviving party and appreciation of logistics involved will temper this argument/discussion 2 out of 2 found this valuable. I'm having a hard time following you here. Your saying your going full on Nomad now. I thought you planned on staying at the top of a water tower. What happened to the tower of safety? I need some more details on this plan then I'll decide for sure if its a good idea.

good point and very true but you have to have some sort of plan incase it escalates dont get me wrong you have a very good point but even if the goal was to keep it contained with zombies there is high risk of losing that containment barricading and holding up for as long as they last and killing all that appose your fort/barricade is a good stratigy to thank you for ur inpute it is appreciated:D plus when food rots there are some foods that can last very very long and others can be grown easily in the right enviroment.

i personally agree with major damage. no place is safe, only safer. but that doesnt mean hunker down, and that doesnt mean never stop. when u find a good temporary base u should use it, but not for too long. all it takes is one curious zombie and your cover could be blown, and emergency escapes are the root of loss. u get caught off gaurd and leave something or someone behind in your haste to get out.

I know my town backwards and forwards and know my location at a single glance at a house. Went to Florida to visit friends a few months back and was jumpy the whole time because I was out of my element. Long-terms plans give you a goal. So long as they remain flexible they should be fine.
