Vancouver Island

I don't think the swine flu is going to actually be as craZy as the newspapaers want us to fear (hey that's their job right?), but it is kinda fun to imagine this as how 'the outbreak' begins. I live on Vancouver Island, on the far West coast of Canada. I'd like to discuss the relative merits of sticking around here on the island when Z-Day goes down.Do you find this valuable?

Simple, you're fine. Islands are (THEORETICALLY) the best place to be in the event of a Zombie attack. Be weary of Mosquitoes or any other potentially virus carrying insect as well and just try to get away from clusters of population.

Your idea is good. But I have a question for anyone who reads this thread. What if you live in the middle of Minnesota and you want to get to an island. What is the best island to go to? It gets very cold up here in winter so im used to the cold(i actually prefer a cool climate) and i know how to use a gun. I would perfer the nearest island possible. Maybe I will join up with twodogs2 On Scott islands or Sidney Island. You say it is wooded so you would be able to make houses or cabins and a fort. Or put up a wall between you and the coast. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Please have facts that will aid you. EXAMPLE: Trees for lumber and food.(Squrriels, pinecones, maple trees for sap etc.)Do you find this valuable? |

"except for pirates yarrr!!!I actually live in Victoria, which is much smaller than Vancouver. Still too many people around though, so I would be taking a small boat and tour around the many smaller islands in the area. There's plenty of large, isolated homes on these rocks, with private piers. Might have to head south to the States, where there's much better chance of finding weapons and ammo than up here in Canuckland. Pirates would be something to be prepared for, no doubt. Look at what a few Somalis can do against huge tankers! For that reason, I'd try to stay away from major shippingroutes, and stick to the little islands. Do you find this valuable? |
