Hows this plan?
May 4 2009, 8:46 PM EDT | Post edited: May 4 2009, 8:46 PM EDT
Making a little refuge camp for survivors.
Making a tall baricade in a big circle with a lockable door incase some more survivors arrive.
Inside the circle make little tents and small structures for sleeping quarters and in the main structure(which would be the chief's(which would be me)) put a HAM & CB radio. Then make a militia of the adults and teenagers so that kids and mothers could stay in safe.

Eventually we could make a Helipad so a copter could come and get survivors.

Eventually we would expand and, expand and, we could retake North/South America.

Where are you going to get the stuff to make the tall barricade? Who is going to build it? Will there be time to build it?

I think it would be easier to barricade any existing structure... firestations are usually built strong, and in the bigger areas multi-storied and have those fun poles to slide down, may also provide you firetrucks, which are extremely strong and can hold a few thousand gallons of water 0  out of 1 found this valuable. I'd avoid any group of people I didn't already know. I you don't build your fort ahead of time you're screwed. 0  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Its gonna be mostly tents and small lean-tos that wont take much time to build. The Barricade will be trees and trash and whatever people decide they dont need. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Where are you planning on doing this? If you are planning on using trees then I assume you won't be in a town or city. There is still the problem of trying to make a barricade with zombies running around. Not to mention the amount of time and work involved. Do you find this valuable?

Making a little refuge camp for survivors.

Do you have the tents, and the massive amount of food and supplies for the people you say you are going to protect?

Making a tall baricade in a big circle with a lockable door incase some more survivors arrive.

I am almost certian you do not have the materials needed to build a makeshift fort.

Inside the circle make little tents and small structures for sleeping quarters and in the main structure(which would be the chief's(which would be me)) put a HAM & CB radio. Then make a militia of the adults and teenagers so that kids and mothers could stay in safe.

Again with the massive amount of supplies you need to support the people, and how are you sure that people will listen to you? If you are younger than 21, you will have an even harder time keeping control.

Eventually we could make a Helipad so a copter could come and get survivors.

How do you know a helicopter will come to pick you up? Even if one comes, you will need to leave SEVERAL people behind. 1, lets say, Bell 206B, can only hold up to 5 people.

Eventually we would expand and, expand and, we could retake North/South America.

...No...Just, no...

And making a helipad? A chopper can land on a flat field or a beach, and where would the survivors be taken if your fort is this miraculous holdout? Do you find this valuable?

nice idea, just bad and unclear execution. like someone said, barricading yourself in the middle of nowhere using lumber (which means you'll cut it yourself) is just wrong to time consuming, you're much better off barricading in a NYC school, all the windows are always barricaded and the only way you can get in is from the inside or with keys.

~easy access doors (from the inside)
~generally easy and non-confusing layouts
~plus the NYC schools are HUGE, usually has a generator, a cafeteria and storage areas.
~they also got a loading bay.

all in all a school is literally a fortress in itself. just pack up supplies and go to a school for hideout. although you prolly will need to clear the place up of zeds before hand though.

"I'd conserve the gas I have with fuel stabilizer and save it for when supply trips are needed"
gas stabilizer is meant to stabilize GOOD fuel

fuel stabilizers will get you 12 - 15 months. but then you will need LOTS of fuel stabilizers and lots of gas cans

The gas I have is good, not gas that's found, wouldn't trust old fuel unless it was for equipment with a built in water seperator, but after no good fuel is available we have lots of boats and paddles for supply runs. I trust them more than bikes.

wouldn't the fear of the horse turning into a zed scare you off?

If horses have room to run they could easily outrun them. I'd be more afraid of the horse getting spooked and bucking. Do you find this valuable?
