My plan
May 7 2009, 10:48 PM EDT | Post edited: May 7 2009, 10:48 PM EDT
Hi, i'm Sam Cook. I'm from Ontario and i'm planning on taking an island. I'm not exactly sure of the islands name but i do have its coordinates (41.788561, -82.797110). It is a small island (about 150 by 175 M) with what looks like two well sized homes. next too these homes is a large open field where one could grow food and do other things. it is off of Pelee island and seems like a very Dependable place to go. My basic root is to start in Blenheim, Ontario (In Chatham Kent) make my way to Leamington, Ontario (Aporx. 30 min drive) go to the Marina and either steel or if were lucky enough, find a survivor who owns a boat there to come with us. The Marina is about 19KM South-West from the island in question. If anyone would like to join us, you are welcome to come. Any help would be appreciated.
If you would like to see the island, go to the following link and punch in the coordinates above: http://boulter.com/gps/
Any ideas would be apreciated to improve my plan.
PS. I am actually planning to bring supplies, i just thought that was fairly obvious so i left it out.
(sorry for posting in two threads, this one was so i could have a personal thread for my on going survival plan)

with further research i have found that this place is called Hen Island. and check this out it just keeps getting better and better sounding!

This small wooded Island is home to the Quinnebog Club, which owns the island. The Club was built in 1898, still exists and is active. The main clubhouse holds the dining hall and kitchen facilities as well as staff bedrooms on the second floor. The Pete Nowak lodge is where club members relax after a hard day of fishing. The lodge features a bar, at the west end of the building as well as an antique pool table and personal member's lockers that line the inside walls of the lodge. If you were to look in the guest registry you would find the names of Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt who visited Hen Island during the history of the island. There is a dormitory which is two stories where members of the Quinnibog fishing club retire for the night during the spring and fall meets where all member's of the club who can make the trip meet for the annual event."

150 x 175M is not a lot of area. If you plan to raise crops it may be best not to take too many people with you. Do you find this valuable?

"150 x 175M is not a lot of area. If you plan to raise crops it may be best not to take too many people with you."
But there is actually another island about 3KM away. Its name is the East Sister Island. East Sister Island would be perfect for someone to harvest off of its 15 hectares. For weeks at a time, survivors with me could alternate in overseeing the crops to limit use of gasoline which wold become a valuable commodity. With them they would take a supply pouch filled with rations, medical supplies and a makeshift survival kit. Another important thing they would take is a radio. The radio would be our only communication between each other. After their times up they return to our base and the next rotation leaves the following morning.

And to elaborate more on to our plan, once enough time goes by (eg. 6 months) we will head over to Pelee Island and raid for supplies. If we meet any survivors, they are welcome to come, but only if they agree that as long as they are there they must follow the rules we have set. anyways, While raiding we will take only essential things with us, and few luxury items. Medical supplies, non-perishable food, water and weapons would be the most important things to bring. But few exceptions may be things like better T.Vs just in case of important news bulletins (same goes for radios).

In case anyone was wondering what we are planning to do, it's very simple, were going to sit the whole damn thing out. In my opinion the people who think they can rebuild the nations are naive to think they could. Of course eventually someones going to do it, but it will most likely be some sort of provisional government that does it. I don't know about you, but my idea of surviving the z's doesn't involve taking as many of them down with me until i die. For me it involves living and not having one of them turning around and bitting me in the ass, pun intended.
