only one door with shutters got its own petrol station and there is a b&q next door
hold up there a while and let it die down in the area then move on to manchester docks only 20min drive and pick up a boat then use the ship canal as a good route up and down the north west good areas for raiding and looting

Sounds good.

Here's some questions I might ask when formulating my plan. Can you guarantee that the shop will be open when you arrive? Will it be clear of looters and zombies? Will the power still be on to operate the shutters?

Not sure about you, but my local Morrisons seems to be full of old zombie every day of the week...

mancdave, you may want to recon a little further. One door for customers, sure. But there will undoubtedly be: fire doors. Secure, but less secure than a solid wall. Delivery entrance. If left unguarded, that's a huge hole in the defenses. Finally, staff entrance. Most of the time it's an innocuous little single door that could easily be taken for a storage or boiler room.

Also, even if the store is not open 24/7, there are employees inside stcking shelves and cleaning. The only periods which they are usually empty are December 24 around 5:30pm to 8:00am 26th, and same times December 31st to January 2nd.

So you then get the questions: would the employees inside let me in, or prevent me from forcing my way in? Could I repair any damage from getting in? Is there a chance they are infected?

But are the employees going to give a damn about protecting the store, or are they gonna hightail it home to their family and more comfortable surroundings? Do you find this valuable?

Also, the idea of using the canals to get about might seem ok at first, but the locks, bridges, etc might well cause problems. What if the sides are crawling with Zack and you need to open a lock? What boat would you be using, and how would you cope with any that were in the canalwater trying to climb aboard. Do you find this valuable?

Depends on how infested the area is. Say the zombies start getting into the area at 11pm. That's the night shift hemmed in. And with minimal access to news, etc they might not realise what's going on until it's too late. So they aren't protecting the store because of loyalty to the bosses. They are holding onto their impromptu fortress and supplies. And undoubtedly someone would try, like in the movies, to run home. And get eaten. But that would be the cue to try and get inside.
