Dead Frontier
May 11 2009, 11:43 PM EDT
Do any of you guys play dead frontier? For those who don't know, dead frontier is a massively multiplayer zed shooter. It uses a top-down perspective in combat. Shooting is not the unique part of this game, but rather how you have to survive in the virtual city. You must loot bodies, vehicles, furniture to obtain vital supplies. Hunger is an active concern for your character, and you must keep them fed, or your health will decay and you will die. Food and medicine of better quality must be obtained as your character gains higher levels. Fairview itself is massive, with multi story buildings, crashed cars, police barricades, and is divided into 5 districts. Each district has its own "market" where players within can purchase various equipment from each other. There is an entire in-game economy built around this. However, the districts cannot inter-trade. The outpost you start in is on the far left of the screen, where the right side would be "Death Row" the most dangerous district but containing the most lucrative loot. Barricading has been implemented, and with sufficient wood and nails, you can catch a breath from the ravenous undead. When a building is cleared out, you can establish a player outpost, with the ability to trade with other outposts in the district and store currency. You can carry 3 weapons, a piece of armor on your person and others in a 14 item inventory (expanded every 10 levels) Every time you level up, you have points that can be used for player stats and weapon proficiency. Stats effect your character's running, ability to carry heavy equipment, accuracy and other things. These decay when your player is injured. Proficiency points go toward categories of weapons; you require a certain degree of proficiency to use specific weapons. There is a massive variety of weapons, I believe 96 so far, from pen knives to grenade launchers. 9 out of 11 found this valuable. Do you?

Enemies are also equally varied, with several tiers of zombies occupying the various zones.Firearms, chainsaws, and excessive sprinting will cause them to appear in increasing larger and more aggressive packs. Something I really appreciate is that this game is entirely browser based, so you don't have to install or go through anything other then email registration. The community is fairly large and the game will run on most computers fine. 8 out of 9 found this valuable. Do you? |

"got surrounded and killed quickly"Did you just start off? Generally, it is better to avoid combat and loot as much as you can. 2 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

"why is that? my pc won't let me play in multiplayer"More on the forums than in-game. You don't read a rules thread, people bitch. You misread one sentence, people bitch. If you are a newbie, people bitch. There is also alot of elitism in that game. I quit not because of these reasons, the game just got really repetitive. 1 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

I'd have to agree, Their grammar is atrocious and they're an openly flame happy community. I avoid the forums anyway though.High level characters plain rape. The admins and moderators even have custom created weapons. (all get issued a sledge hammer with higher attack power named the banhammer, gotta love it!) I was a doctor a while ago, but my account was deleted due to inactivity, so I rejoined as a cop. Currently, I have: Beretta 800 (357), Benelli M1 (20 gauge), SL8 (5.56), golf club and the M79 >:) I'm guessing you joined as a cop too? You should stay in the streets early on, as you have more space to fight, loot, and escape. You should only consider buildings when you aggro is low, and you have a decent shotgun and melee weapon. 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |
