Impassable Terrain
May 18 2009, 10:07 AM EDT | Post edited: May 18 2009, 10:07 AM EDT
Just thinking about the best and smartest places to survive on Z-Day without having to depend on isolating yourself in a building.

Just to mention a few zombies or humans would have a trouble traversing Swamps, Islands- In a river, sheer faces mountains.
Anyother other places you can think of you discussion if the places I mentioned are safe from raiders or zombies.

I'll back up your swamps. (Living near the largest swamp in the US) There are hundreds of camps spread out in the swamps here. And once the gas has run out people would just have to paddle their boats around. Do you find this valuable?

Thing about swamps tho. Mosquitoes could carry the virus. (If it's a virus of course) Then it'd kind of backfire.
And scavenging would be hard to impossible in my opinion.

With the lack of proper medical care, I'm going to go ahead and say that swamps are a bit too diseasey for me. Do you find this valuable?

I'd go for the open road. Stay mobile in a small group of vehicles, and keep ahead of any zombies or nut jobs.

I have to agree with inu-dude25 about the open road, but who said us wanderers were going to stick to the road, if we keep moving chances are slim to none of being found at all by anyone, zombies, raiders, nutjobs. but to choose this lifestyle would be an exuasting journey never ending, not only that but if you want to survive you must be fast on your feet. Since we´ve got a lot of forests, -go up the trees and make tree houses. If dense enough, you could make "walkways" up among the branches that could stretch far. You would be safe except when going to the ground. From there you could hunt and collect different berries, mushrooms and do fishing. The surviving kids would love it. Do you find this valuable?

That point is raised a lot, but think about it. If the dead are literally getting up and eating the living, are people going to just up and go on a road trip? Personally, I think people will go where they feel safe, so their homes. And with the way people are so jaded, they'll probably shrug the whole thing off until a zombie is braking through a door or window.

And if you ever get a heavy enough vehicle in the front, you can plow most of the debris out of the way.

True that. A good heavy truck of some sort with the front end thoroughly armored would make for one hell of a battering ram, and it could offer protection if you ever encounter hostile survivors. Do you find this valuable?

yeah but to drive eternaly would use so much gas for one vehicle let alone like10 so maybe this will work for a week but i doubt any longer.

and about mosquitos well that would suck but also you have snakes (which are so fun to catch and kill) but also gators if your in a swmp. id choose that over a million zeds anyday since that normal for me.

Yes, ten vehicles can burn through billions, if not trillions of gallons of gas and diesel in a week. Do you find this valuable?
