See, I don't agree with putting spikes in your baseball bat. I think crushing the skull will cause enough damage to the brain that the added damage of spikes is redundant and unnecessary.

Plus, spikes give your weapon a chance to get stuck and slow down your next swing.

But most importantly, driving spikes through a baseball bat will compromise the weapon structurally, significantly increasing the chance that the bat will break the next time you connect with it.

Agreed, this also brings validity to my baseball bat vs sword argument, a sword will get stuck in the flesh the same as a bat with spikes will.
