Leaving Your Family
May 27 2009, 4:30 PM EDT | Post edited: May 27 2009, 4:30 PM EDT
When Z-DAY occurs, and some day it will, could leaving your family be the best option? I was thinking about this only because I think there would be MUCH less stress watching a family member become eaten by the Zs or you having to kill them, than leaving them at the beginning of the ZAPOC (Zombie Apocalypse) knowing that they would be safe and okay. Just a theory. Thought it could help. 3  out of 12 found this valuable. Do you?

Okay, why does this have one, let alone two threads? Seriously, if you think you're going to leave everyone you care about to die and you're still gonna be able to sleep at night you've got issues. 7  out of 9 found this valuable. Do you?

"Hey, I think you have a chance of getting killed, so I'll accelerate that process by pissing off and taking all the gear. Love ya, honey"

Yeah, that will go down well. Forget zombies, you are likely to be killed in a fit of rage by your nearest and "dearest." Good luck with that.

The plan is to leave them as opposed to watching them die? However, you said you would know they would be safe-how? If they have a place to be safe, why not stay with them and be safe? After 9-11 I left my daughter with my parents my fiancé-her mother-was killed by the Islamoscum and I went back into the Marines active duty for almost four years. Trust me I knew she was safe and I knew my future wife was dead and it did not make anything any easier for me. I just don’t see the upside. 0  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

In case of a scenario where I can choose to leave my family and possibly live, or stay with them and maybe die, I'd choose the latter.
I really think that's what a huge majority of everyone would do, hell I wouldnt even want to leave them if I knew it were safe.

Well VBDE just nailed it, i dont know about the rest of the persons on this site, but i believe my life goal would be protecting my family, especially my neices and nephew which i treat as though they were my own children since i have none at this time. I would look at my families safety before my own, and would never even think of leaving them in a Z-Day event, or any other apocalyptic event. Those persons out there that could just forget about their famalies, or give themselves the false thought that their famaly is safe and sound in their home, even though chances are they wont be, especially considering the fact if their home is in the middle of a large city, are just messed up completely in the head. 1  out of 2 found this valuable. but lets say that your family wants to do exactly what the worst plan could possibly be during a zombie outbreak, or if one of them completely lost their mind like Barbara from Night of the Living Dead (original. would you leave them then? 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

How is there a worst possible plan? There's nothing to base it on. And you're saying that if your parent lost their head for a minute you'd throw them to the zombies. Wow, you're either extremely naive or a complete dick. 1  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

In all fairness, family members are the most trustworthy people you have under normal circumstances.
Not bringing them would be an oversight.

If my family would go with the worst plan, I would follow to a ) Get them to change their mind, or b ) Protect them and/or help them.
Would you really abandon your family just because you might live to see another day?

No they are family. I wouldn't leave my dogs. If you have nothing worth dying for you have nothing worth living for.

People have dreamed of immortality since the begining of time. During that time the answer has always been right in front of them.

Your children are an extension of you. As long as they live with the potintial to carry on your bloodline you will never die. I would do everything within my power to protect them and keep them safe no matter what. If they die, I die. Simple as that. If I abandoned them I would die of shame because I couldn't live with the knowledge of my cowardly behavior.

I agree with Shoegun. Doing so would make you a complete dick.

The fact is, i might as well prepare for holding more persons then my original planned group. I could not turn away my family, friends, or anyone else i come across. In the standard world, i am an asshole. I can and will fire anyone from my company without a second thought, no matter what guilt trip they try. I refuse to give my hard earned money away to anyone (with very few exceptions), and hearing about people dying, no matter how bad it is or whom it was does not affect me. But in an event like a zombie apocalypse, the very human civilization is at stake, and anyone who could just ignore the screams from woman, children, anyone really when a group of undead are approaching to rip them apart, well i am sorry but that type of person does not deserve the right to live upon this planet and i would gladly feed someone like that to the zeds myself. Granted there are those out there who deserve to be left to their fates, any raiders, rapest, murderers, ect deserve to be devoured and i wouldnt think twice about letting it occure. Okay, so, hipotheticaly, you leave your family to die, and survive.
What's the point of living now? You are rejecting one of the most primary animal instincs we have.

Thats the truth right there, you might as well walk out into a zombie horde because anyone capable of doing that isnt human.
