The boycott won't work. Thousands, probably hundreds on thousands of people play L4D and would buy L4D2, so even if you got a few thousand on your side, no one would care. You would do better to petition valve with those few thousand instead of boycotting it. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. TheNightFox, that's exactly what I said in a rather long post that Marsden so kindly deleted without notice. And I know you read that post; you responded to it. Combine that with this:In condensed form: Valve owes us nothing, they probably ran into money trouble, you'll get what you want with Number Two, so get your head out of your ass and your foot out of your mouth (you certainly do have a lot up there), and get a job, seeing as you could probably scrape up $60 in several months, now couldn't you? More specifically: People assume that they know everything there is to know about video game design and the video game industry. Valve owes you nothing except quality content in their games, and you already have a very high qualty game, so shut up and play that. Valve launched L4D before the economy crashed, and had no reason to think that they'd have to put out another game for years, really. But the economy did crash, and they needed a way to make money. So they had to stop production on L4D mods and updates, and start production on a new game, which lead them to chose L4D2, seeing as the first sold so well and was still fresh on everybody's mind. And then their "fans" and "community members" got all hysterical, demanding that they stop production of their newest money-making venture, and give them, the customers, everything they wanted but had no good reason to expect, had they read into the situation even slightly. So think about what you're doing before you do it, and do something slightly less moronic. Valve was simply UNABLE to fulfill their promisses, neglecting to inform those who care of their reasons. You'll get what you want with Number Two, so get your head out of your ass and your foot out of your mouth and get a job, seeing as you could probably scrape up $60 in several months, now couldn't you? 7 out of 8 found this valuable. I hope you were not saying that specifically at me.And also... I did? I actually don't remember replying to that. Ah well, that's probably where I got my argument from. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Hell, no, that wasn't directed towards you. Just to those involved in the boycott. If our are. . . Still not specifically you.And I expect that you just got the wording for your argument from me; it's probably originally yours, as well. Although the petition was my idea. . . ;-) 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I think they just wern't liking the fact that there was no Melee weapons. And since they can't put melee weapons in a update or as downloadable content... the opted for a new game. So, i wouldn't look at it as a Left4Dead (2), I would look at it as a BIG update to L4D (1).

im not a fan of L4D, as a matter of fact i dont care either way about it.but i dont understand the need to boycott a video game. i mean, what moral high-ground is there to take on a video game? 2 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

I really enjoyed the first Left 4 Dead, and I will probably enjoy Left 4 Dead 2 even more. I bought Left 4 Dead for what it already included, not DLC. It was a great game that entrained me longer than even Gears of War 2. As long as Left 4 Dead 2 keeps me entrained as long as the first one did, I will be more than happy. I hope the boycott doesn't work (joining the anti boycott group) cause I can not wait to get my hands on this game.

I'm not really sure why anyone would want to petition Valve, considering they are continuing support AND updates for L4D, as well as releasing L4D2.Protesting against Valve is like protesting against the Salvation Army. It's just about the only game studio that actually does anything of service for gamers, and they deserve support for their actions, not dissent. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Well this is off subject but valve doesnt service its gamers with steam. Anyway i enjoy l4d and hopefully ill enjoy l4d2. I dont understand what the petition is for, so what if valve didnt really make much different oh well just dont by the game. Dont ruin it for everyone else.

I think that this wiki is about zombie defense and survival, and not about making statements for or against video game companies. We avoid governmental politics here, so maybe as an extension, we should avoid video game politics as well.

"I think that this wiki is about zombie defense and survival, and not about making statements for or against video game companies. A lot of people feel strongly about this (I'm not sure why), and it *is* fairly zombie-related content. As long as people don't start debating the DLC of Damnation or something along those lines, I see no real reason to care. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

It looks like a good game. and I hear that they won't stop updating L4D so L4D2 is really a parallel game instead of a sequel.
