Maybe the acid in the rain will kill the virus? Most likely the virus will to die in the snow from the cold weather if not the virus will be frozen.

"Maybe the acid in the rain will kill the virus?"
Think of the virus 20 times more durable and stronger than the swine flu, bird flu, and aids put together. and a mix of acid rain and the virus with kill it? i dont think so

Where did this "20 times as strong as any virus known to man" come from? Do you find this valuable?

That seems pretty likely to me.
I don't know, maybe it would happen from corpses decaying in lakes and rivers...perhaps it would cause zombie fishes! Now THEY would be scary. Lol.
Perhaps bacteria in the water would kill the virus? Or it wouldn't evaporate with the water? We have no clue what the virus would be like.

Well the snow being cold won't kill the virus, just slow it down to stop it from reproducing. But really it depends on how long the virus can survive outside of a host. Most die within hours, and the evaporation cycle can take days to go from a lake to rain. Do you find this valuable?

so would it just be a matter of boiling your water? Do you find this valuable?

Again, depends on the virus. There are some that can survive boiling.

I think if you do everything possible to filter and purify the water using bleach, idodine and boiling, then you will be as safe as possible.

"better safe than zombie."
Up to a point. There is a risk of airborne contamination at any time, but you can't spend your life hooked up to a sterile air unit, sealing yourself inside a hazmat suit until the end of time.

Howard Hughes is not the best role model.

Thankfully there is a gigantic sterilization unit at the center of our solar system. It's called the sun and it emits ultraviolet waves. These waves sterilize everything they hit and will break down any organic material pretty quickly. This leads to sunburns if you're not careful but it helps keep the planet from being overrun by bacteria and viruses. Do you find this valuable?
