Fuel for vehicles
Jul 2 2009, 6:55 AM EDT
Like thibeault and Nosfera2 said, yes gas is unlimited. You could work on a battery powered car, but those are utterly useless in most scenarios. The best thing to do is to use vehicles ONLY in an important scenario such as a survivor rescue or an escape. Just find a place to camp and dont try to take your vehicle for a ride if your destination is a few metres away. Besides, walking is healthier. :D

Fuel is unlimited true but you still have to look for it, it won't be everywhere. I will take only a few days or less for a town to loose power and that means the gas pumps will not work with out a power source. Find a portable generator. You can laugh if you want but as for cars diesel is the only way to go I can only think of two, the Volkswagon Jetta and the Jeep Liberty they both suck at this point but fuel is the point here. All city road and street departments have a diesel storage, construction sites, mining sites, nearly all farmers do. Heavy machinery uses diesel. These units are not in the ground and most will not need power to be pumped out. These are all off the beaten path from the inital raiding. Find you a large Catapiller type of machinery. More useful than you can imagine in a time like this. Great for groceries too. A diesel engine will also last longer than a gas or hybrid engine.

If you have a vehicle but don't want to burn up the gas or the battery have your friends get out and push and have someone steer the car. If things get bad get in the car and DRIVE!
