Personal Accomplishments

This weekend my wife and I visited Great Basin National Park, and climbed Mt. Wheeler. The summit was 13,000 feet. This is the first serious hike I have ever done, other than just local hills. I'm not gonna lie, the altitude and the trek up there broke me off something proper. But it was worth it to see the top of the world. We forgot to bring a camera, but here are a few pics I found of the mountain on google: http://images.google.com/images?q=mt%20wheeler&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi I learned a few things though: * Next time, I'm bringing a sweater. 85 degrees at the bottom does not mean 85 degrees at the top. * Next time, I'm wearing long pants. Sunburns, scrapes, scratches, etc. * Next time, I am wearing a hat. My poor grape is roasted. Have you done anything recently that you are proud of or that you consider to be a significant personal accomplishment? Tell us about it. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

I climbed up Monte Amiata in Tuscany a few years ago (5,700 ft). The ski slopes were iced over so it was pretty tough.

I've been on a few hikes this summer, but I'm most proud of my commitment to running 2 miles a day and sticking with it. Definitely feels good.

I ran up 40 flights of stairs at one property that my Company owns, and 30 flights of stairs at the other. Both Fire Alarm calls, and I was happy it took less than 2 minutes for me to get to those places of incident. I hope you enjoyed your Hike DN.

Come to think of it, I have a better story for "Personal Accompishment". Mine is (and I do not mean to offend ladies on this forum) Lossing my Virginity. I slept with a GORGEOUS blond girl fro Bakersfield, CA. That was a work out. I was 18, looking for love & loved all 3 hrs of it. That's my accomplishment that I am most proud of! I wish my de-flowering story was as good as that. I fell asleep, on top, halfway through. Good times. One of my best personal accomplishments was climbing Half Dome, at night, with my father, successfully. Done the hike now 5 times, climbed the face once. There's just something about that rock, can't stay away. First time we went, we almost died of dehydration and heatstroke. Then next time we went at night and brought enough water but almost died from hypothermia (space blankets suck) and falling in massive ravines (shitty LED lights suck). I think we finally got it down now. Do you find this valuable? |

"Come to think of it, I have a better story for "Personal Accompishment".Yeah! This sweet redhead from St. Louie during vacation made me ache in muscles I didn't know I had. All for a game of crack-the-crib. That is one accomplishment I can laugh over since my cousin got her friend...who wasn't a "natural" female if you get my drift! Do you find this valuable? |

"Yeah! My first time, she was drunk, i was drunk, dont remember much of it. As for topic, i think my personal accomplishment would be riding a roller coaster, since i am not a fan of heights none what so ever and to sit in that seat and thrown around feeling as though my life was over, yaaaa... Lets just say it was a rush... Do you find this valuable? |

I swam to the first sandbar in the Atlantic, even though I am terrified of open water.

"I swam to the first sandbar in the Atlantic, even though I am terrified of open water. "Congrats. Overcoming fears is far more intensive than just building physical ability. Do you find this valuable? |

Neat thread:I've recovered from a shoulder injury earlier this year.. I've really placed an empasis on my physical fitness, I've lost weight, packed on the muscle I'm literally reinventing myself.. I'm eliminating all the weak links in my body. My BP is close to normal... I'm no longer pre hypertension My blood sugar average is much lower... My numbers are up in my weight training I'm finally making some progress. And its been good for my wallet.. I pretty much just bike around unless I'm making a grocery run. Do you find this valuable? |
