Sadly, I agree with you on the comunity point.I, however, will stick around, hoping that one day that will improve. Another annoying point is the 5564 registered members at the time I post this, out of whom about 20 are real contributers. Or is that what you mean? 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

When I first signed up like a year and a half ago, I was really excited but quickly disappointed by all the immaturity, disorganization, and ignorance I saw on this site. Those things seem to have improved to the point of being tolerable (which is why I'm active again), but I think some of the sense of friendship and community had to be sacrificed. Hopefully things will pick up in that aspect. The few active posters we have (mainly those that are regulars to The Bar) seem to have a decent sense of community, or at least social skills, but otherwise, its pretty slow.

I agree with everyone. *minus vanrullz wanting to bail, but that's ultimately his decision*The community aspect was what originally got me hooked. Granted, it's been whittled down severely, but it still exists [mainly in The Bar as Stryker noted] and will continue to do so. To have the entire site like The Bar in terms of member cohesiveness, unity and as an all-around good time for everyone involved, THAT would be ideal. *last part self-censored* 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Every web community has it's ebbs and flows. The difficulty I see for this site in particular is that every new join wants to contribute, but it's usually the same old ideas and topics that have been discussed to death over and over. Fresh content is becoming far and few between. 4 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

Thorn_of_kabolis, you don't actually *need* to post in The Bar to be considered a genuine community member and real contributer. No problem if you do, though.DevilNuts, that's true. And then, after a more matured member tells the new person that what they've said has been said before, they get all huffy and vanish. 2 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

No problem if you do, though.Yeah, it's just that certain members choose to go there.....and its a very fun thread, but it has nothing to do with anything official. I agree there...If there was a readily accessible FAQ/page of what ZSDW considers 'common knowledge,' then perhaps some of those posts would cease. I might just do that... 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

The reason I don't hang out in the bar is that I don't think it's very fun at all. If other people like the random silliness that goes on in there, great. I choose to focus my energies elsewhere. But don't assume that people are less involved in the site because they don't like one particular thread. 5 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

"This site just ain't what it used to beSince you brought this up in public... "Big However" for me is that your participation here at ZSDW is almost trivial for the Mods slot you had. Should you have returned and asked a current Staffer "what's up?" instead of a sly board suicide, your slot would be opened back up... I appreciate your time and work here. Again the however and but is I need folks WORKING here at ZSDW to help keep it a decent and enjoyable place for we Zombie aficionados. Staff needs to be active and available, or note dropped off as to why a leave is happening. I'm hoping ZSDW "This site just ain't what it used to be". We, the Staffers and Community are trying to make Zombie Wiki a cool spot to come and spend on.line and on.ass time at. "Improvement, one person at a time". I'd prefer you stay on and active. Your choice. SnC *UndeadAgainTrafficDirector* Do you find this valuable? |

I was in a hurry to get somewhere, and neglected to write it out carefully. A_G, an FAQ page sounds like a fantastic idea. DevilNuts, I'd say that the main reason we enjoy the randomness is that it's so random. That is, I think that we're so tired of being serious, and so take the oportunity to be ridiculous. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"I apologize; that's what I meant by my earlier comment. I was in a hurry to get somewhere, and neglected to write it out carefully.I'll be researching The Discussion Forum to find common elements, like one-post survival plans, various___ vs,___ threads, random one-post threads that are useless, the 'yu gaiz suk kuz u liek zombeez' threads, boo-boos that newbies generally make. I firmly agree. I used to be very active in other parts of the site and am a 'veteran' of the crazy shit that went on here awhile back....but I've recently chose to mainly entrench myself in The Bar as I haven't seen anything overly new to discuss or work on*, so I pretend to be a 1911 wielding dude in Ao2 armor that has a Russian Fembot with him at all times while he acts as the Chief of Security for The Bar and kills Scene kids. It's ridiculous, I'm not gonna lie....but it makes me happy :D *sans FAQ, which was actually discussed by alicestar at one point, but was never carried out as nobody could figure out where to start with it at the time IIRC* 1 out of 1 found this valuable. I don't know. I've tried to be fair in my stint as mod, then admin, but I do have a few "fans".I'll openly admit that this site is not as much the looser, community site that I've been told AngelaB envisioned it as. I'm still open to suggestions on how to make it more enjoyable. We're getting more members every day, and I don't want to turn then away as if they were another troll. Your choice to leave or stay. Just ask if you want that mod position. Do you find this valuable? |

This site has made significant improvement regarding the maturity of the content - it's no longer dictated by the katana-wielding invisosuit warriors and how they're going to skydive to a safe island where they've constructed Voltron to do battle with space mutants. Zombies just happens to be the way of all of that... so naturally, they have to skydive to the "island fortress" right??The ZSDW is much more practical now, and much more cohesion - it's not a spit and flame festival or childish circlejerk anymore because that crap isn't tolerated. Sure, the less mature members are not going to feel welcome in an environment that caters to more realism. Why? They're at a huge disadvantage to those who are pragmatic, productive and share intelligent ideas. As time goes by, the ZSDW will continue to mature - and could go one of a few different directions. Only time will tell. Frankly, I'd rather be in an environment that has 20 active contributors who know what they're talking about than surrounded by 500 "special needs" cases. Who wouldn't? 5 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |
