Looks good but is it done? I mean we can add more stuff to it so we can get a estimate of full BOB. Do you find this valuable?

I like the idea, could be useful, but I wouldn't add anything to specific, such as "SOG S60 Powerlock" since not everyone will be using the same gear, you can guess/average out the weight for those piece of equipment Do you find this valuable?

I thought about that, but I felt that being accurate was more important on this page.

So if you have a different multi-tool we could add it too OR if you don't want to weigh it, then you could use the SOG S60's weight for an approximate figure to work with.

Does anyone have a weight (or can get it easily) on a single MRE packet?

Under a pound.
A case of 24 MREs weighs 22 pounds.

I'd say to round it up to a pound anyway to compensate for variations among civilian MREs.

my BOB weight 62.4 pounds but I also include 200 rounds for my .270 200 for my .22 and 80 for my PLR-16
and that's if I'm on foot (although I wouldnt reccomend a 60 pound bag if you dont heavy pack hike ALOT)
Most of my non essential bug out crap involves my truck and my back country route.

I heard somewhere (don't remember exactly) that a pack should weigh roughly half your body weight as a rule of thumb, but after reading Gurur's post, I think it would be more like a third. What are your suggestions? Do you find this valuable?

The new ones sound better however the Amercian ones seem to dominate the food market if you know what I mean. Some of the ones we were issued were like ten years old lol.

Just don't forget the range card when you throw away the box.

I added some first aid/ field surgery kits. Tried to get the ones that would be the most common. Wasn't too hard for field surgery, most of those are at least based off of military specs. . I found alot of first aid kits online, gonna try to narrow them down to one of each basic sizes, mini, small, medium, and large Do you find this valuable?

I've been using 10% body wt (goal) and 20% body wt (max).

Sounds about right. For me that means I should be aiming for about 17.5 lbs. If I had to walk over rough ground for several miles, I would prefer to keep it light.

My thoughts on BOB's are that they are only to keep you alive whilst you travel from one safe location to another. They don't need to sustain you indefinitely, just for as long as the journey takes, with some wiggle room for worst case scenarios.

If you really need to take 60 lbs of gear with you, perhaps your journey is too long, too difficult, or you are over-preparing.

All this is for journeys on foot. If you are driving you can up the maximum.

I aimed for 20%, with the knowledge that I may have to drop some non essentials on the way. My bag is planned to cover all seasons, in the winter I can lose the bug spray. In the summer I can lose the hand warmers. Etc. Do you find this valuable?

Well by what, end of April I should be able to cover 8 miles in under two hours with 100Kg on my back so if I have just under half I should be doing okay.

Added lots of stuff to lists. My god, it was difficult for really small objects like tablets, matches and batteries especially. Do you find this valuable?
