Boots or Tennies

Please read the page this thread has been started under.Personally, I would go for boots 7/10 times. The reason being that in a post-apoc world, you're not likely to get many new shoes, and boots are generally better for construction and sturdier. So, for the few times that you would REALLY need boots, it would be worth it, even if your feet get a little extra sweaty all the time. Just don't forget to change socks. 7 out of 8 found this valuable. Do you?

I would wear boots 9/10 times. However, unless you wear boots on a daily basis, I would recommend highly against it. Remember, you don't break boots in, they break your feet in. If you have to get blisters and callouses and stuff, and deal with it while you flee for your life, you're screwed. I've already got my feet all rough and tough, so I CAN walk for miles with no problems. But let me tell you... to get to this point was painful. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Spelling fail, I know."Mesa Sayez Boooots! I think I'd probably have a pair of each just so my feet have one thing good for sturdiness, and one for lightness. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

My vote is for Xtra-Tuffs boots.1. Totally waterproof, tennies usually aren't 2. Insulated, they keep your feet warm, may not be a good thing in hot weather tho. 3. Durable.. what can I say.. my daily routine would _shred_ a normal pair of tennies.. 4. Steel toe. If your gonna give somebody or something a boot to the head its nice to keep your toes protected. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Boots that extend above your ankle also offer a bit of protection against twisted, rolled, or sprained ankles. They are mandatory parts of my EMS uniform, for that very reason.

"I would wear boots 9/10 times.Fully agreed. I know when I went fron tennis shoes to work boots, before the end of the day I felt like my feet were going to fall off. If anyone doesn't wear work/tactical boots now but plans to after z-day, I would recommend to start now a little at a time. Do you find this valuable? |

I have to say i would want hiking boots. they are designed for the comfort of tennis shoes and can still brave the elements. Work boots would be to clunky. I want to be fleet of foot. If you are trying to lift lumber you want to be sturdy, if your trying to escape zombies you want to be fast. Running in Timberlands will wreck your knees and ankles. Now i've never worn combat boots so i can't say what those would be like. But a pair of Columbia Hiking boots would do the trick for me 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I've spent the last eight years in both construction and combat boots, and I can say 100% without a doubt I would be wearing New Balance cross trainers. I also just hiked up a 13k mountain wearing my New Balances. Do you find this valuable? |

I'm going with a quaility pair of Redwing boots. They are light, sturdy and comfortable. Your talking about $250 but they feel good and last a long time.

Deadlift/and Squat with these shoes on, and they are holding up very well. Do you find this valuable? |

Girl varieties of boots are harder to come by, so I'd stick with tennis shoes personally. I would definitely stay away from running shoes though, because they're lighter weight and tend to let in water and dirt more easily. My job has me walking on dusty ground for a few miles a day, and when I get home, I have dirt caked on my toes from where it got in the breathable part of the shoes. The light weight is a benefit, but I'd much prefer something with a bit more waterproofing. I have Asics. Dunno if it's just that brand that has the waterproofing issue, but it ends up being a problem, since I live in a rainy area. Do you find this valuable? |

I just got OdorEaters for my combat boots and DAMN those things are nice! For me the "odor" part is not that big of a problem, but they also absorb sweat and keep your feet dry. Its nice to remove my boots at the end of the day and not have soaking wet socks.

I have a pair of Rebook cross trainers that cost me just over $80 and they are awesome! Light weight, durable, and no problems with dirt & such getting in my toes. Do you find this valuable? |

I actually can not where boots. For one reason I find them uncomfortable. The second reason is that I hate my toes touching each other so I need really wide shoes. Boots cannot provide me with what I need. I'll stick to my Adidas leather runners.

Boots. I used to run 3 miles a day in combat boots, all leather top at that. Slogged a lot of miles and wore out many pairs over the years, and my feet are still in good shape. Wide and long, but good shape.

I think I will have a pair of hiking boots as back ups, and I will start out with the shoes I wear every day. Red Wing steel toe, work shoe, high tops. They are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned and good for most shops, construction, and etc.. Do you find this valuable? |

Hiking, work, and tactical boots are all i will wear. My uniform also requires them to be worn for ankle support in case we have to start chasing someone who runs from us or whatever the case. Plus if you go with a decent tactical boot, most of the time they can have some of the comforts of a tennis shoe and the durability of a work boot, making them ideal IMO...
