This is focussing purely on the briefs you have for the Operations at the end. With the exception of Bounty and Costello, the others follow the path of relying on Goverment assistance in a crisis. That might not be wise or even possible if the outbreak is very large. That said, the use of waterways is one that seems to be frequently overlooked.Bounty: Do you have the seeds, tools and knowledge stockpiled to do this? And do you have enough canned/dry food to sustain you until the first crop comes in, potentially a full year? Do you know how to preserve a harvest by pickling, canning, etc, and do you know where to find enough jars and bottles to do so? Can you make vinegar, do you know where it comes from? (All these questions and more, I had to answer when making my plan, so I'm not attacking you with problems. The world is, I'm just pointing them out :) And feel free to pillage my plan for answers) Of all the plans, Bounty will be the hardest, the longest, and the most thorough plan you will make. Costello: Aside from the reliance on rescue, is a college campus the best place to go? Densely populated, with (in my opinion) unreliable, scared people. And the equipment, will you be able to access it? Will it have power? Do you find this valuable?

Well, going off of the summaries:the plans for using the waterways are good as long as the narrow ones are not blocked (derelicts, new 'pirates'), it's not winter (3-season plans) and your destinations are actually a good place to go. If you have a boat already, why not scout out some islands for potential stops or base camps? I'm suprised you didn't put down Ft McHenry or other low pop yet fortified spot. Why not use your wife's Coast Guard connections and make it to the little yard? If Fort Meade isn't already a 'bloodbath city' by the time you claw your way down 295, it will be so tightly secure, it might be suicide. Do you find this valuable? |

"Well, going off of the summaries:A lot of these plans are contingent on where the outbreak is. Yes there are lots of plans for government assistance, but they will be discounted in many cases. I'm simply listing the variety of options if the government is still functional. In small outbreaks I feel that government extraction is still a viable option hence why these are listed. Bounty is the toughest and truly I will be hoping to run across certain people in order for it to work. I do know several people who have done a metric buttload of research on organic farming so they will be utilized if possible. Ft. McHenry is actually near Locust point which is still far too close to Baltimore's epicenter. I've considered the islands as options, however the people living on a lot of these islands are still very suspicious of outsiders. Smith Island is actually dry (no booze) and everyone's a member of the same church. The college campus radio is simply the most convenient radio transmitter, being one mile as the crow flies from my house. Hes there may be panicked people, but I will be a calm, trustworthy adult with a gun, which counts for something. Costello is the type of plan reserved for a localized outbreak Do you find this valuable? |

Granted, there will be a lot of variables involved that cannot be predicted or measured, but I'm confident that it will shape up well. As far as stockpiling goes, this plan relies on mobility and therefore supplies will have to be gathered upon finding a suitable location. Thanks for your input guys!!! Do you find this valuable? |

"i feel as though your holding back zv you should give us some more of your ideas"Keep in mind that I plan on elaborating on all of the operations when I find the time, which at the moment is at a premium. After the Massachusetts quarantine discussion I'm going to make a government quarantine plan. Do you find this valuable? |

"Did you see my reply on MajorDamages thread? I'm not fear mongering here, I'm just a little more worried than usual."Look, I'm just not feeling that thread so I'm putting it out of sight and out of mind, lest things get ugly. I think people are seriously overreacting to H1N1 but I don't want to get nasty here. I'll keep an eye and ear out since you guys mentioned it, but I have seen at least half a dozen stories like this that have ended up as fake rabble rousing articles. Not that I'm saying this isn't credible, I just don't want to get sucked in to an obviously political argument with you guys. Do you find this valuable? |

I've been shaping up some of my plans. I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations for Operation Bounty or Comet? These are my all hell breaks loose plans, so criticism is appreciated.

Ok, just read through the Bounty one. Your crop list is a good start, but look at the one Eostre and I put together. Feel free to steal the yield sizes etc. It should help with getting an idea of land size. With regards to animals, make sure your cattle are grass fed, not grain fed. That will keep your land size to a minimum. No pigs? They are garbage disposals, recyclers and when rooting around, can turn over the land for you. Ducks are a good one to have as well. And I'm sure that Timber would push to include rabbits. :) I like that you have though ahead enough to see that metals will form the basis for an economy. A fully self-sustaining base is the biggest task, you need to make sure you cover everything from water, food, perimeter (the obvious) to things like sanitation and medicine. Effluent runoff into your water supply will make everyone sick, possibly dead without good medical supplies. Comet needs more detail before a fair assessment can be made. Do you find this valuable? |

As for Comet I merely wanted to demonstrate how different of a plan it was from Bounty while still being a long term plan. Do you find this valuable? |

If the colony hires itself out as a protector, much like the Vikings in Kievian Rus they can protect colonies by water while adding to the stability of the region. Do you find this valuable? |
