I would go with the Mora with a carbon steel blade, probably a #1 or a #510. At $10 to $12 have a few around.http://www.ragweedforge.com/SwedishKnifeCatalog.html Military Mora http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=78455 $12 http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/2-new-swedish-military-mora-knives.aspx?a=442686 2 for $25? Pricing a bit strange. Do you find this valuable? |

the glocks are solid knives for the price, and they are even balanced enough for throwing. Personally I'd Go with the cold steel Outdoorsman or the OSS

I personally own the KA-BAR 2000 Tactical with the ruberized handle for optimal grip, and i love it, a great combat and survival knife.

The Creed looks like it has a solid design. My primary Beef with SOG is that they don't include the thickness of the spine or the tang in the product specs. They also never show demo videos on their website. I haven't seen any reviews, but considering the steel that they use for the blade, the price is a tad high.

Overall, would would agree with Brandon that when I get a SOG, I am surprised at the width of their blades. But in practice, they tend to hold an edge well and are easy to re-sharpen. Yes, they are "thinner", but seems to hold up well. I haven't gotten one of their larger like the Creed or full-size SEAL, so I'm not sure if that applies to them.Maybe it's the models I have, which are: SEAL Pup, Mini-Pentagon and the Powerlock S60. Funny, as I write this, the Powerlock S60 is in fact, the "opposite" in construction. It's beefy and heavy compared to other multi-tools. I very much like it out of the ones I have used. "A Kukri rides on my belt almost every time I go to the woods : ) I use the Regimental version sold at Atlanta Cutlery and I have THREE of them! You're right it's a "top shelf" knife and a bargain for twice the price! : )) Do you find this valuable? |

I'm guessing that's a joke, kurkis are as much tools as they are weapons.Atlanta Cutlery gets those Kukris from Windlass Steelcrafts, who unfortunately do not list any facts about the knife other than the fact that its "High Carbon Steel". A term which gets tossed around way too loosely. I wouldn't trust my life to a $30 knife that is made by a company that makes replica Captain America shields. Do you find this valuable? |

Gurkas are people from nepal and india who serve as mercinaries for Great Britain."Although a popular urban legend states that a Gurkha "never sheathes his blade without first drawing blood", the kukri is most commonly employed as a multi-use utility tool, rather like a machete. It can be used for building, clearing, chopping firewood, digging, cutting meat and vegetables, skinning and also for opening tins" Do you find this valuable? |

before this jumps off into a flame war....you are BOTH right. If memory serves me correctly,Gurkas take part in a ceremony before combat in which they make that vow. BUT....the kukri is also used as a utility blade. As far as the Atlanta Cutlery Blades, I can vouch for them as quality steel and worth every penny. I got my first one about 30 years ago and the other two over that time. They're good stuff and come with Gurka Army inspection info. Now the others I have seen from other venues are questionable. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
