M820 6x6 5 Ton expansible van purchased for around $2500 as government surplus. Convert all wheel and tire assemblies to 1600x20 super-singles with a highway friendly tread that can still claw its way up a backwoods hill. replace drum brakes with huge disk brakes and convert to a dual BMS system for anti-lock brakes. Replace motor/trans with LDT-450 and Alison automatic. Add an armoured hatch to the roof at each end of the box that open to the front in the front and to the back in the back that can be locked in the upright position and sports a gun mounting point on top when open.Clean up and armour the underside for strength and aero-, hydro-, mudodynamics so that whatever you're slogging through has no chance to cake up and clog up your undercarriage, be it mud or Zack guts. It'll also make the clean up easier and give opportunities for additional storage under the war wagon without the risk of high-centering a full undercarriage storage locker like RVs have would. I'd also think about relocating the battery tray, fuel tank, and tool boxes to make the chassis and its conformal storage areas uniform. Replace that flimsy 1/2" steel front bumper with something with a little more heft to it, like a complete set of jail cell bars attached to the front of the truck. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. How about a Renault UE its a old support vehicle made by france and you could mount just about any gun you could think of on it. How about a Schwerer Wehrmachtsschlepper half track this vehicle was built by germany in world war two as a supply carrier, but i suggest updating the engine in this vehicle the reason being it only has a top speed of 16.8mph with its current engine type.

Half tracks are not nearly as effective as full tracks or fully wheeled vehicles. You may as well just get a CAT and Weld up a ton of steel plate onto it. If you are really feeling good about yourself you can carburize the plate.

Steel plated transpot truck built to ram anything out of its way. Nothing can stop a transport truck from moving forward on surface streets.Decked out luxury tour or travel bus. Hydraulic doors. The windows are high off the ground. Powerful engine and lots of ground power...and you can travel comfortably. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"I really like the hydraulic doors idea. Might be a little overkill though."If you think about it the bus is a really good idea. Dark tinted windows prevent anyone from trageting passengers. Air conditioning. Built in entertainment systems. Reclining seats. loads of storage space. Electrical generaters. satellite uplink. CB radio...and best of all...a bathroom. These travel buses have huge gas tanks and can drive for days without stopping. A bus could easily be fitted with massive reserve tanks and drinking water tanks. Some of these buses are set up like campers with a full kitchen and a full bathroom. I think that would be a readily availible moble battle platform. They are pretty good to go as is. very few mods would have to be performed to make it truely zombie proof. Do you find this valuable? |

"Decked out luxury tour or travel bus. Hydraulic doors. The windows are high off the ground. Powerful engine and lots of ground power...and you can travel comfortably. "Hmmm... do like this I do. In regards to doing something with your vehicle that can make it move other vehicles, here's my recommendation: Mount an "I Beam" to the front end. 1) find an "I-Beam" & cut it to the width of your vehicle. 2) Find the strong points on said vehicles frame towards the front. Not anything that would mount the Engine, Radiator, or what not... it *must* be on the Chasis. The points closest to the front must be measured. 3) Weld 2 rods at a 90 Deg angle from the I-Beam towards where you are going to mount it on the Chasis. 4) Once the I-Beam is mounted, Reinforce it like a M07h3rFawker. I'm at work now, I'll try to find my old Iraq photo's to show you what the front end should look like after completion. Once you have that done, you have to remember that this isn't so much a 'Battering Ram' as it is an "Aggressive Shover". You don't *Slam* into things with it, you approach either very slowly or close to the speed of what you are trying to 'Shove'... THEN you accelerate. Do you find this valuable? |

Free lancer I like your thinking, but I'd be tempted to make it look more like a Cattle Catcher on the front of old trains, that way debris is forced to the side.Honestly I could Go on for days about all the **** you could do to modify a Bus like that. I'd be really tempted to hose the inside of the bus down with rhino liner as an extra layer of armor. The Army and navy have been testing applications for uses of polymer armor. Armored tires, cargo racks, bunks, deployment area for quad bikes, the list goes on and on. Do you find this valuable? |

I was at a woods and water festival and I saw it on one of the more expensive RV's, the entire back end dropped down and functioned as a ramp, and it was wide enough to get two Quads in side by side, the entire floor was covered with diamond plate and there was an actual Steel door going to the rest of the RV.

Reinforcing the grill is a must but i think a triangular wedge mounted in front would be better. The wedge would disperse the impact and froce what was struck off to the sides of the vehicle. The cow catcher is sort of what I mean but not quite. The wedge should not be welded to the bumper. It should be welded to the chasis of the bus so that the hits are solid and the impact is distributed through the body of the vehicle. Bumpers will just get ripped off or caught on something. Bumpers will just get ripped off or caught on something."Oh, absolutely! Nothing on the Bumper. Matter of fact, if you needed to make the sort of Modifications we're talking about, I'd remove the Bumper & place it either somewhere else or use it for something else entirely. Won't take long to mod at all. Some welding equipment, pipe bender, cutting torches and a bunch of steel. Do you find this valuable? |
