Passports?
Sep 1 2009, 2:34 PM EDT | Post edited: Sep 1 2009, 2:34 PM EDT
Just curious, with the US having a low percentage of people with passports, how many people here have them?

Reason I ask is that in any large disaster, getting out of the way is often the easiest defense. If your country is likely to be hit, and others aren't, could you pack up and get on a plane/boat with little notice?

Mines current:

I have the international version. the one with the new RFID tag in it.

I was going to address this problem, its something EVERBODY should have, proves identity and citizenship.
Handy little document if you are looking for a job.

Secondly, this has a longer life than my drivers license. Kinda handy.

Thirdly its a backup if you ever loose your licence or wallet. I know where my
passport is, its in my firebox.

I gotta agree, you literally cannot leave the country without a passport.

Now I gotta throw this in the mix:

For those of us that have limited travels at least consider the passport card. Its limited
Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda. And for some of us that might be plenty.

For me I need the international version, I'm going to scottland, england and amsterdam this fall.

Must say that is a larger number than I expected. And having one for ID, even if you don't intend to travel now is a good way to have it as backup WTSHTF. Do you find this valuable?

Agreed. Though I'm staying where I'm at. IF ZedPoc happens, I'm staying back where I'm located at.

They are great for airport security, esp when dealing with the homeland security minions.

When I got mine, there was no line. I was happy.

But keep in mind that you can go to Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico (for us Americans) without a passport.
