"I've been trying to get started on a more down-to-earth fiction on the subject of the zombie apocalypse (oh, the irony in that sentence was too much to resist).
My writing so far on that area has been designed to give a broader outlook on the scene, directly or indirectly.

I'd like to write a story from a perspective very close to mine own if possible.."
hm.....so do you want to narrow the perspective so you can put more detail into it?

My problem is mostly time, I've involved myself heavily in Uni this year (rather than before when I did feck all).
I joined the Rifle club for example.

I want to narrow the perspective so that I can write a more classic zombie story.

Ah, makes sense. I have the same issue writing Decaying Dream.

So, with a more character centric, consider a few things.

Do you want multiple perspectives?

Do you want to play this out from the perspective of everyday civilians, or possibly military?

Should your character be in the heart of the infestation, heading towards it to save something, or running?

It'll probably have two perspectives, one male, one female.
The perspective will be of normal people for the most part, though the male protagonist will probably be a mix of my own character and several of my mates, i.e. slighty better equipped for this sort of situation. However, this person will not be as prepared as I am, and this will be reflected heavily in the storyline, particularly in the early days.

As for the female character, she'll be a mix of various female characters I know in reality as well.

It's far easier to create characters out of people you know, it also gives a good reference point...

Yup. I personally have trouble with characters, so I had to create those "Need Characters" threads. Do you find this valuable?

I was thinking of making a character for that, but I couldn't think of anything.

"I was thinking of making a character for that, but I couldn't think of anything."
Understandable.

When I posted a thread on the site of the game the fiction was based off of, I kept getting these stereotypical responses.
Only a few really stood out.

I really liked this one character, who more or less resembled the "tough guy", but tended to be very sentimental.
When he'd find a corpse, he'd take their driver's license or other ID so who they were wouldn't be totally forgotten.

I think mine will reflect a very Irish response to the crisis to be honest.

That'll mean something quite different to anything else on the area.
The closest thing would be Shaun of the Dead-type stuff, but that is still far off it.

Well, I'm not fully educated of Irish culture, so I'm rather puzzled to what you mean. Do you find this valuable?

It's hard to explain.

Let me put it this way, it'll demonstrate Irish culture to you in strange ways.

I'm debating posting my on-going story here, it's much more casual than the typical apocalypse scenario, it doesn't even have zombies. Would that be acceptable, or is there only one kind of fiction here? Do you find this valuable?

We can appreciate any kind of good fiction. Apocalyptic tend to work the best though.

Ah. That one.

It's better then most run of mill stuff, but the genre would just be out of place.
