What would you do on internet during a zombie apocalypse.

Imagine you had a battery powered laptop with infinite batteries and wireless internet and a printer and a mouse and a webcam and such, what would you do with it? All ways to send e-mails are down, as well as any ways to contact help. You can only communecate via the zombie survival and defence wiki.

I would just search everything about zombies and play some Left 4 Dead or Dead Rising to learn more.

You will be too busy during the first part of the outbreak to worry about going on line, and when you get time the system will be usable.

If you rely on technology you will be in a world of hurt and I predict in one hell of a hurry.

The comments above are my thought and do not represent the ZSW and it's membership and management.

So the entire internet is broken but this site?

I don't think Wetpaint is going to be the last man standing.

The OP is a bit confused: "infinite batteries" + wireless internet. Somehow the power is on enough to power all sorts of routers, switches and other infrastructure to support wireless internet ... including an access point which has to be within a few hundred feet ... but "infinite batteries" are required?

EVERYTHING but ZSDW is down? Hos does THAT work?

He's going to play video games to "learn more".

It's fun to be a kid.

Personally I would look for a stone built School (Hopefully with fenceing arround it) and hold up there. Besides it isn't hard to completely baracade a school(Keeping in mind that you go with a group or else this plan doesn't work for you) and keeping the dead out. Do you find this valuable?

I am not picking on you personally, but I've posted this before and it bears repeating:

ANY plan which begins with "I would look for ..." or "I'd try to find ..." is doomed to failure.

Why haven't you scouted locations already, formed a group, created a plan and worked that plan?

but my idea was like a few years into the apocalypse when you are hiding in a huge fort and you cant go outside. theres some small farms and some chickens and **** but what are you doing in your spare time, except for reading books. and the "learning more" was just a load of ********. games are for fun. Being the selfish survivalist I'm, I'd probably search for whatever information about the zombies I can find. (keep in mind, this is after zombie apocalypse, hence I wouln't bother with any Pre Z-day games/ideas whatsoever)

Searching for survivors, finding out what the miltary is doing would also be a good thing to do. Bet this place would get alot more visitors during Z-outbreak.

As for infinite batteries, well I do have portable solarcells(6 of them) and on a sunny day one can keep my laptop going.

1) The odds of the internet working are slim, but if it is, start downloading useful texts as quickly as possible. Old government publications for small farmers being some of the most important, but survival and anarchist/militant info as well. Also, get as many maps of your local area as possible. Your goal is to get this information from the web onto your computer as fast as possible.

2) Once that is going, start printing out that information until you run out of ink. Once the power is gone, your laptop might work, but your printer likely will not.

3) If the power goes out, take any info you have left on the computer that can help you survive, and take good notes on it by hand until your laptop dies.

Note that the first two need to be done as soon as you think an outbreak is starting. A good thing for a weak spouse, parent, or pre-teen to do while you make the very dangerous - last trip to the store before the Z's get to your area.

The hand note taking can be saved for a few days (but remember, time is battery, even when it is off).

4) Of course, you should also make a point to swing by the local library (probably an easy stop). You want any books they have on (1) survivalism, (2) farming, (3) old time living (the Foxfire series is must-read for Z-dayers, just skip the cultural crap and stick to the "how they used to do it" stuff).

5) After that, you have some reading / reference materials that can help you. Don't plan on free time for fun and games, however, as running a self-sufficient small farm is hard work that will take up most of your time. Doing so cautiously (with someone always standing guard and with weapons and a retreat line always nearby) is practically impossible.

If you have time to waste, go use it! Strengthen the outer line, build a secondary line, take an extra shift on watch and let someone else be productive, go chop more wood, etc.

How is that a forgot? The ZSG isn't a zombie bible, quite a few things aren't even true from what I've heard. And the rest is all common sense. Do you find this valuable?

I hate to always be the guy of reason, and spoil everyone's fun, but here I go again. The internet would not be exsisting. The internet is a combination of different servers around the world, all weaved togeather in what you guys know of as the world wide web. With powerstations around the world going down, these server farms would lose power, and the sites they would be hosting would be unreachable. Sorry guys. I would love to play my Dead Frontier as practice, but it just won't be logical to think of. Sorry. Do you find this valuable?

Depending of how late into the outbreak stages I get on and IF i can online (your scenario is unlikely). As Deacan said internet would slowly die as more and more places go offline because no one is manning the power plants. If its really early during a outbreak it would be possible and even then don't you think people will google "zombie" and come here for information therefore crashing the server because of too much traffic? Nonetheless its still possible, just not probable.

I'd probably try to get people's location and stuff to meet up or at least keep status updates. Internet won't help you if no one is alive to contact in the first place.

And maybe listen to music on pandora.com.

I'll take this to mean during the last few hours/days/weeks that the internet still exists.

Basically, I'll be posting as much information here as possible, while collecting it as well. I'll also be saving and printing as much stuff as possible for as long as possible. I don't plan to be moving until the power stations are down (indicating that the military has failed a logical priority in defending utilities).

I know it isn't a bible, but that book is the closest thing to knowing how to survive an attack. It's really good to have it around
