Norinco SAS-12 Semi-automatic, box fed magazine Shotgun

I just added a section on this page for Box magazine fed shotguns.
When I bought my Norinco SAS-12 a few months ago, I found the 3round box magazine disappointing, and couldn't find ANY extra magazines anywhere, so I made my own 10 round magazines. I'll post some pictures of these in my profile, and maybe even a video of them at the range.

16ga stainless steel. I have a full machine and fabrication shop at work, so the only real tricky part was forming the feed lips, but generally it was easier then the months I spent Google-ing for a source. 3  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

Ah. I'm not a big fan of this shotgun.. I'm gonna stick with my Saiga 12...

Now I admit I havent actually picked one up.. but theres a few limitations already..
small ammo capacity, I havent seen a drum for it.. etc. etc..

Do you find this valuable?

I could probably manage to make a drum... Maybe my next project! lol.

I considerd a Saiga, but for 150 bucks, the Norinco made a good argument. over the Saiga $600+ :-)

Saiga does have 12 round magazines, readily availible, so that's deffinitly a plus. Haven't seen a drum mag for a Saiga though? Do you find this valuable?

The price for a saiga 12 is a little bit over 500.

Yes the norinco costs lets, so I guess thats a plus.. However it seems
like the aftermarket does not support it as much as the saiga.. So thats a
minus.

I have an MD arms20 rd drum in my grubby little fingers. As well as other
high capacity polymer extended magazines for the saiga.

I dunno.. I'll have to check one out in person.. I feel like i'm a bit biased toward
the saiga, I own other norinco guns like the SKS, and a 1911 and its been
pretty good so far. Not awesome, but good.

Ok, loaded a picture of my SAS-12 with mags in my profile.

I wasn't expecting much quality when I bought it, but after takeing it apart several times, it's really not a quality issue, but quantity. It pretty much as 2 moveing parts. Trigger, and bolt. I'm not sure what the feed mechanism looks like on the Saiga, and yes, haveing the possibility of finding spare parts and not haveing to make your high cap mags is a great thing, but I've been told the Norinco is a Mossy clone except for the mag case. I'll have to take a closer look to see if a Mossy would make a good doner. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Cool picts of the mags, smart design, I like it.

Interesting thought, about the mossberg and the norinco supposedly being clones..

There's a few sites that deal with home made firearms, especially some real NICE machine guns that are made by Chechen rebels in the former soviet state... Maybe a page for improvised firearms like these, modified comercial firearms and such? With a great big warning that says 'The FBI will smote you if you make guns in your basement!" lol Do you find this valuable?

Looking at buing one could you give me some more info and pics for your mods I had the same ting in mind. Would you make mags to sell? Do you find this valuable?

Norinco makes 4,5,10, magazines as well as 20 round drums for the sas but thanks to good ol' mr. clinton you cant import them legally. However if you are fabricating the full and complete plans for them can be obtained usually over the net for free.

*edit- Just looked in the dealers catalog for century arms.
12 ga - 10 rd box SAS -12 $35.99 retail price , $22 dealer price

you can get non norinco made magazines up to 10 rounds, I know for a fact century arms, and rock point both make sas-12 versions, I would check there if you just wanna buy the mags. Do you find this valuable?

CENTURY ARMS MAKES THEM!?!?!

I just sold mine because I couldn't get compatible parts or extra magazines for it. And the ones I made worked... most of the time...

Norinco got caught selling weapons to Iran, so they can’t import into the US anymore…

Right now, I'm rockin a Mossberg 500 because it's common with parts all over the net, and fast-ish reloading (compared to taking out my one magazine, reloading, then putting it back in)

I am using my home made magazines as shell carriers that fits in the AR mag pocket in my vest. I have to strip the shells one at a time, but as far as tactical shotgun reloading goes...

If this Century Arms place pans out for you, let me know. I may buy another Norinco and about 50 magazines! Do you find this valuable?

Thanks for the input I am not going to get one. Just looking for a cheap project gun. Going to save up and get another Glock, most likely a 23 with RTF. I have a nice mossy 590 that I love along with a safe full of other toys.

Nice idea with the old mags:)

CAI dose not list any mags on their site:( Do you find this valuable?

if i were you i would go with the saiga 12, its not that expensive. unmatched firepower with a drum mag. it will shoot as fast on semi auto as an aa12 will on full auto. and whats more reliable then the ak47 platform. it doesnt just look like an ak47, it is on just chamber for 12g. they are made in an ak factory in russia. doenst get any better than that.

oh and i loved my mossy 590, it was prolly the best pump gun i ever had. Do you find this valuable?

Mars are you still looking for extra mags for your SAS-12.? I found them for you bro. Apparently CAI as I previoulsy stated stopped import of them but Hoosier still has all the CAI lots of them.

Heres the order links. you cannot place any online orders of them, you must call and place the orders directly, But they carry both type 1 and type 2 model SAS 12 magazines. Sorry it took me so long to dig this up been really busy with gun show season.

Please, help me here. I desperately need some box magazines for my shotgun.

Would anyone here fabricate or let me in on where I may purchase magazines for my Norinco SAS 12 gauge Semi-Auto Shotgun. Yes, it is box fed and cycles excellently. However, I go through it's loadable magazine way too quickly.

I need 10 round magazines for my Norinco SAS 12 Gauge Box Fed Magazine Shotgun. I am willing to pay whatever the cost may be. I am unfortunately unable to use a pump action type of shotgun because of my disability.

I appreciate the help in this endeavor and your kindness and willingness to be of assistance. Thank You so very, very much. Do you find this valuable?
