Convoy Scenario
Oct 2 2009, 6:43 PM EDT
This scenario makes you the commander of a convoy of 13 vehicles and 44 people. It is setup as a situational test. You will be required to randomly roll some "problems" and apply them to the different groups in your convoy. You will need TWO 6-sided dice for this. Here is the link to the supporting page..... http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/Convoy+Scenario More will explained there on the page. This exercise is designed to get you thinking and weighing issues when dealing with a group of survivors. It is NOT a all inclusive exercise. It IS a situational problem solving "game". Each person will be a little different, SO GIVE YOUR RESULTS FIRST before you tell everyone what you are going to do. This should be fun, so have some fun and let's here those ideas..... Good luck. Week 1 Result: Nothing happened (Rolled 10).Week 2 Result: Charlie Command Group, RV broke down mechanically and will not run. Cannibalised the RV for everything useful, including kitchen, fuels and satellite dish. Week 3 Result: Tango Logistics Group loses Heavy Crew Cab EMS Water Tank to fire. Convoy route confined to areas with known sources of moving water, water management intensified. Week 4 Result: Nothing happened (Rolled 11). Spent time searching for a second water carrying vehicle in towns that we pass by. Do you find this valuable? |

Week 1: Whiskey: Infantry Support - Rolled 10; nothing happens. We make good time. Week 2: Sierra: Communications and Engineering - Rolled 7: Minor Breakdown of M35A2. This truck is vital to the convoy as it supports communications. We tow the M35 to a safe spot with the M816 Wrecker and then take a day to repair the truck using the welder and tools on the Wrecker. The members of the convoy enjoy the chance to stretch their legs. Week 3: Tango: Logistics Support - Rolled 3: Raiders hit the convoy and the Heavy EMT Water Tanker is destroyed. With most of the convoy's water supply gone, we head out with severe water rationing. We search whatever areas we come across for a new water tank, either self contained or trailered. The driver and passengers group with Sierra in the back of the M35. Week 4: Hotel: Engineering and Medical - Rolled 5: Ambulance breaks down and cannot be repaired. We use the M816 Wrecker to tow the Ambulance until a suitable replacement or parts can be found. The driver and passengers of the ambulance are distributed into group Charlie with the motorhome. Due to its importance as a medical facility, the Ambulance body itself must not be abandoned. Do you find this valuable? |

here's my run......it sucked!Week 1) Roll: 5 - 5) Truck breaks down mechanically and will not run. Group effected: 5) Kilo - Logistics Support (Passenger Van) What to do? Combine Kilo in with Charlie, giving Charlie 3 Vehicles and 12 people. Week 2) Roll: 8) Minor breakdown - convoy must stop and repair vehicle. Group Effected: 1) Hotel - Engineering and Medical (EMT Truck) What to do? EMT truck is main medical vehicle for group. Whatever it takes to fix it. Week 3) Roll: 5) Truck breaks down mechanically and will not run. Group Effected: 3) Whiskey - Infantry Support (Ryder Box Truck) What to do? This is major issue as I don't have alot of "dry" cargo space left to store my guns and ammo. Use the Wrecker to tow truck temporarily till I can find another cargo vehicle. I'm looking for a Semi Rig with a Box trailer if I can find it. Week 4) Roll: Minor breakdown - convoy must stop and repair vehicle Group Effected: Hotel (Water Truck) What to do? Stop and fix the truck. While working on it, use time to scrounge around for another vehicle to replace my Ryder Truck. I basically had issues every week to deal with. Two vehicles down (passenger van & Ryder truck). Second one was a killer as it's the only large dry area for cargo. Either way, out of 4 weeks - I had two stopped working on a vehicle. Week 1 -Roll - 11, Nothing Happens Group - Tango, Logistics Support Note: Group searches eagerly for a new home. Maps possible places, finds nothing that has good resources. Week 2 - Roll - 9, Minor Breakdown Group - Sierra, Communications and Engineering Note: Military M816 Heavy Wrecker Truck breaks down. Lucky enough, it was only a severed air line, and the problem is fixed, only costing two days, for scrounging and installing. Week 3 - Roll - 8, Minor Breakdown Group - Whiskey, Infantry Support Note: The chain connecting the motor to the real wheel snaps. The leader (Male, 22) gets a minor injury and is all well in two days. The motorcycle is strapped to the luggage rack of the SUV, and they find a fitting chain, on Friday, of week three. Week 4 - Roll - 9, Minor Breakdown Group - Hotel, Engineering and Medical Note: EMT Trucks timing belt snaps. Luckily, they were camped, and simply rading the nearby town, wasting two days for a day timing belt. Due to the place a timing belt goes in, it takes them another full day to put it in. I got epically lucky, only have minor breakdowns OR nothing at all. At least we didn't loose any more important vehicles. I'd rather be prone to minor breakdowns, than epic breakdowns. :DThat was kinda fun. Do you find this valuable? |

week 1: minor breakdown with CHARLIE company Winnebago. We would stop and repair it, since it's kind of important. We got lucky, it was a coolant hose. A nearby town was scrounged and we got a replacement pretty easy. week 2:Minor break down with HOTEL's dump truck and backhoe unit. Again the sleeping quarters are too important. We had to end up finding a machine shop and fabricate a alternator pulley wheel since we couldn't find a whole alternator. week 3 : uneventful(rolled a 12) week 4:Minor breakdown with SIERRA's heavy wrecker. Why is it all the important crap breaks the most? A sticky brake caliper has to be replaced, fortunately a perfect match at the county department of transportation garage facility. Got lucky really.... I really have to agree with knuxz, I would rather have a small breakdown every week than only one completely lost important thing.

Week 1: minor breakdown with Whiskey Company rental truck.Firearms storeage truck broke down today. We got sort of lucky, the fuel hose cracked, so it was a minor fix. On the downside, we did lose a considerable amount of fuel in the truck before we could replace it. Week 2: Minor breakdown with Kilo Company's stake-bed Damn, I don't know much about cars, but I do know that the axel coming loose is not at all good! Took us a good two hours to get it sorted out. Good somebody knows the in's and out's of cars in our group! Week 3: Hotel Company's fuel truck breaks down. That's it. We're stuck in the mud. The engine is a giant screw-up, and nobody knows how we are going to get it running. Without extra fuel, we aren't going very far. Whiskey company has sent out their motorcycle and two people to go and find a replacement truck. Until then, we aren't going anywhere. (An old water truck was found two days later and the fuel was transferred from old to new truck. Anything useful from the old truck was scavenged and the rest was left behind.) Week 4: Whiskey's rental truck is destroyed in firefight with raiders. Wow! I can't believe those raiders actually got their hands on an M72! I was lucky to make it out of that truck alive! I guess that launcher wasn't enough for them if they went after our weapons supply! I still have a good gash on my arm from the windshield shattering. Well, we managed to fight them off and get the fire from the explosion under control, and our weapons and gear are intact. Until we run across a replacement, the entire group is carrying a little extra gun. That's a good thing, right? --- I rerolled the last one, I wanted something interesting (it was another minor breakdown originally). I lol'ed at how Irish's *water* truck was lost to fire. I already did this, but I'm going to do it again because it is fun.Week One: Minor Breakdown, Hotel, Fuel Tanker - Turns out to be a blown universal joint on the driveshaft. We stop, consider towing it with the M816, but decide to send two guys out on the motorcycle to scavenge one. It is a Peterbilt, pretty common, so a replacement u-joint is not too hard to find. We lose a day. Week 2: Truck breaks mechanically and will not run, Charlie, Brush Truck - A broken timing chain leads to a swallowed valve. Damn Powerstrokes! We transfer the EMT equipment from the boxes and distribute it among the other trucks. We make sure all water containers are full before spraypainting "Fresh Water" on the side and abandoning it. We will have to be more careful with our water from now on. We lose a day diagnosing the problem and transferring the gear. Week 3: Minor breakdown, Hotel, Ambulance - We already have 4 extra passengers from the Brush Truck, and cannot afford to lose our medical facility. We tow it with the M816 Wrecker until we reach a safe place to work on it. Turns out to be a dirty primary fuel filter from some contaminated fuel. We rig up a replacement we scavenged from an abandoned truck. We lose a day. Week Four: Vehicle is destroyed by raiders, Kilo, stake bed truck - A small group of raiders had set up a remote detonated roadside IED. After the explosion, our fighters made quick work of the raiders, but both driver and passenger of the stake bed truck were injured and loaded into the ambulance. We recovered what we could, and went on our way. Lost a day, but we are almost at our destination. So. Two minor breakdowns, and two lost vehicles. Do you find this valuable? |
