Hey all!

I got some new literature today. I'll let you know what I think when I'm done:

1) The Zombie Survival Guide 'Recorded Attacks' by Max Brooks.
ISBN: 978-0-307-40577-7

2) U.S. Army Zombie Combat Skills by Department of the Army (Illistrations by David Cole Wheeler, Edited by Cole Louison)
ISBN: 978-1-59921-909-7

So sorry it took so long to update this. But the #2 book had me looking at it pretty hard. Not to mention I decided to read each book 6 times before giving a fair assessment. Here it goes:

#1- The Zombie Survival Guide 'Recorded Attacks' by Max Brooks.

The book itself, which is really just a graphic novel, is really quite amusing. The 'Recorded Attacks' book doesn't go into ALL of the 'outbreaks' that happened accoring to the Reverend MB... just the ones tha tseem's easier to make. I'll break this up into two parts. Bad & Good.

Bad: The stories that are illustrated work OK, but the size of the novel is limiting the approach to which you might like reading the stories. There are 12 stories that are illustrated in this book. The thing is this: you will, and I mean WILL, be asking yourself "Why were these stories chosen for Graphic Representation?"

Some of the 'recorded outbreaks' seem to make sense when you consider what was being fought over by the aritsts that wanted to make a Graphic Story of what happened in MB's world: 60,000 BC Katanda, Central Africa.... AD 1583, Siberia... AD 1862 St. Lucia, E. Caribbean... these stories seem to stand out in the mind of the Zed Fan as wanting tallented indivuduals making a 5-25 page story in color.

But others fall short:Why was the Joshua Tree Nat'l Park even THOUGHT of for a story?

Pros: The aritistry is quite good. Buy good, I mean that the graphic artists did their job.... I.E. they made something that Hollywood wanted to be scary... and take it to the N-th level. It's quite hard for Make up effects artists to make visible what a 'vivid' minded sketch up artist can make with his mind, pen, and paper.

Some of the scenes are quite terrifying, it makes you NOT want to see a zombie... much less a full-scale outbreak.

Pt 2
