i must comment on konflict's theory. if there really is a zombie virus in the molten belly of our world then we need not worry. no virus, even a zombie one, could withstand the heat and pressure of molten lava. if it could what would be the point of burning the bodies of dead zombies? Do you find this valuable?

Look up extremophilic viruses. Whilst I agree that the centre of the earth is a little much, there are documented cases of viruses and bacteria that thrive at well over 200 Celcius. Do you find this valuable?

Ever seen the worms at the bottom of the ocean that swim through volcanic vents for energy? That's extreme cold (in the far negatives), insane pressure, and then extreme heat. To quote the late Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park, nature will always find a way.

those are both excelent points. but if burning a z wouldn't kill the virus because it would survive the heat, what is another way to dispose of it? Do you find this valuable?

A bullet to the head? Seeing as there is no zombie outbreak on record, we can't say where one could come from and how they could be handled. Do you find this valuable?

Burning a Zombie may not kill the virus but it will disable the host preventing it from spreading. Well, assuming it isn't airborne and can only be transfered through bodily fluids

but if the zombie is already dead there's not not much risk of it spreading the virus anyway, and since we dont know if the virus will be airborne or not it would be risky burning it without a hasmat suit on. and if it IS airborne it will spread once burned. but then again if this virus is so strong that it can survive intense heat and IS airborne, we are basically doomed as a species.

the safest thing to use is time. A virus, a bacteria, a parasite, all of these will die if deprived of their food source long enough.

The burial of bodies in marked areas will keep the contagion secure, away from food sources, and after enough time has passed, it will be rendered inert.

The only thing this won't work for is a prion, since they behave in ways we don't fully understand. They will however, live for almost forever. Prions will need more careful disposal.

Prions are what causes mad cow disease right? They're like misfolded proteins?
