I'm starting to think the number of 2012 threads is on a trend threatening to top even the weapons threads...

"I'm starting to think the number of 2012 threads is on a trend threatening to top even the weapons threads..."I don't understand it... so a bunch of ancient mathematicians were like: "Bob, seriously we've got 4,000 thousand years figured, can't we take a break?" "Again with the whining? ok, But you better be back by 2011, cuz we got work to do!" No seriuosly, the mayans had a cyclical calendar. Meaning it reused the same template every X many years. they literally had one year in the cycle that was always supposed to be bad. That's not prognostication(fortune telling) that's playing the odds. Do you find this valuable? |

Well, technically, in the Mayan belief system, it was supposed to be a day that essentially wiped the slate for the next cycles. But, religion and logic rarely mix, so who knows? Do you find this valuable? |

Sure if you wanna be technical :pI have to agree about religion and logic though I just have to much to worry about to stress mayans too, between two kids, potty training, two jobs( thank god i have internet at both), a divorce, PTA meetings, getting ready to scrag zeds, and yelling at carnacks mall-ninja/trolls, i just don't have time for any more hobbies. Being an atheist I've had to deal with with it enough and seriously 2012 is just going to be another year. If the world ends then it ends nothing we can do to stop it. Do you find this valuable? |

When my family or friends bug me about how to prepare for the hypothetical 2012, I can only tell them, that if prophecy is true, we're f**ked regardless of what kind of supplies we have on hand. If the Mayans were so smart and all-knowing, where are they now?Oh, that's right. The mayans are extinct because they were wrong about a few things. Don't get too wrapped around the axle over stone wall carvings. Do you find this valuable? |

The Mayans killed Lincoln and Kennedy; mark my words! One problem I see with the 2012 idea: time zones. Apparently, everyone in Australia will die roughly 24 hours before we do. Do you find this valuable? |

"If the Mayans were so smart and all-knowing, where are they now?Well they did predict WW1, rise of Adolf and the Tsunami on Boxing Day. Who knows? Or well, I'll be in the army by then hopefully so I would have completed all my major aims in life. Do you find this valuable? |

Maybe the myans were like:Calendar maker: "Hey Chief, we have the calendar going now. We have worked a lot and were wondering if we could have a break...." Chief: "How far have you gotten?" Calendar Maker: " 2,500 years......." Chief: "Am I being Punked?!? Of course you can have a break! How the hell did you even get that far? Thats freakin epic! Take a break! If fact take a month off!" ETC Am I the only one who has thought of that???? :P Do you find this valuable? |
