Ultimate Zombie Killer Firearm
Dec 5 2009, 4:57 AM EST
My vote is the HK MP5SD. A 9mm submachine gun with a built-in silencer.http://firearmdeals.com/Dons/MP5SD_11242008A.jpg Advantages: -30 round mag. -single, 3 round or full auto setting. -Compact. -Silencer avoids drawing attention to yourself. -9mm is one of the most common types of ammo, especially in law enforcement - easy to find after the zombie rising. -Commonality of parts with the MP5 family (commonly used in Law Enforcement) makes for easy repairs. Add a laser sight, and you have the ultimate zombie killer. Do you find this valuable?

only a couple cons with this weapon (it is nice):1) it fires 9mm which if you needed to shoot a raider is not very effective 2) its a spray and pray weapon mostly i would stick with something a little more powerful such as a UMP in .45 Do you find this valuable? |

It's just very specialized. Not in the top 10-percentile, but not something I'd toss either. @Bubba_Thudd... why this weapon, and why not another? Personally, I'd get an M1A with a Tac-Light & a 4X scope. That weapon was the last weapon to be TRULY designed for all purpose warfare & still function after not being cleaned for weeks on end.... -Freelancer47/Mick 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Silencer dude. Don't want the zeds knowing your wherabouts. The only real downsides of the MP5SD is its short range and low penetration - not really problems when dealing with zeds. M1 variants would kick ass at long range, but an SMG on single fire (especially silenced) would be my choice for close quarters combat. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Well I think there is one version called the MP5/40 that fires 40 S/W if that helps.

true, but with an M1A i can dispatch the enemy from hundreds of yards! silence can be traded for distance and effectivness!.308 vs 9mm, zombie or raider, u can truly reach out and touch someone with an M1A 4 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

Is this gun legal where you live?If not, do you hold a license to stock such a weapon? If not, how do you plan on obtaining this weapon? Do you find this valuable? |

Also, for the readers, correct me if I'm wrong.... but I believe that in order for that Suppressor to work you need 'Sub-Sonic' rounds to work with it anyway.... anyone know about this? 1 out of 1 found this valuable. well from my experience, a 9mm round cannot penetrate a sappy plate and even had problems with just the standard layer of kevlar. ive personaly seen 308 go threw sappy plates!and on the silencer note it really should not be called a "silencer" but rather a sound suppressor. the effect is that it is suppressing the vibration of air caused by the bullet and the release of pressure coming from the barrel. there are three things that make a weapon pop, the release of pressure frm the barrel, the bullet passing the sound barrier and the action/clank of the weapon. to make a weapon as quiet as possible u have to use low velocity ammo. wich is terrible against body armor! That is normally true, but the *massive* MP5SD suppressor is of the type that drains firing gases away from the round, bringing full power ammunition under the supersonic level. At any rate, pistol rounds aren't effective against body armor, subsonic or not. By the by, only certain models have burst and automatic trigger groups. The MP5 is a pretty bulky sub gun as well.... Do you find this valuable? |

Its a gun that fits into a unique niche and serves well for those purposes, but I wouldn't justify it as the "Ultimate Zombie Killer".I personally feel that the full auto and three round burst feature is more frustrating than its worth and while the 9mm may be ideal for a side-arm, I would want something heavier and more accurate at range. Honestly I would prefer the kel-tec plr-6 over any pistol caliber weapon. It can be suppressed fairly well, and offers the advantages of the 5.56 nato in a light and compact package. Not really. The "ultimate zombie killer" weapon is something that best fits a user's needs. That is, it must be effective, efficient, and easy to use or well trained to the user. Sort of like a simple Colt .45 in a trained veteran's hands can prove to be more valuable than a squad machine gun in the hands of someone who doesn't know what they're doing. Also that's kind of why humans aren't restricted to only one weapon... Heh heh heh @the idea of an MP5SD being a great zombie killer. Not a bad weapon (accurate, silent, light, easy to use, reliable under most circumstances, 9mm ammo is very plentiful and cheap, and low recoil). But it does have its cons, like many already have stated: 9mm has very little stopping power, if any, so it will be annoying to the shooter if s/he has to constantly reload after having downed only half a dozen or so zombies with each 30-round magazine. A UMP .45 would solve the problem of stopping power but trade capacity for it. UMP .40 would also work fine. Good weapons would be reliable, light, easy to use, accurate to a distance, maintenance-free (mostly), able to be suppressed, have good stopping/killing power, durable, and use ammo that is cheap or plentiful. Examples: UMP .45, AKS-74U, AK-74M, AKM, SCAR-H, FN FAL Paratrooper, G3KA4 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

"Touche, my bad. No offense meant, I read into your reply to deep.no problem freelancer47, there are pros and cons to every weapon i suppose. I think that these 3 necessities are what we should rely on: 1)we can get our hands on it 2) it fires effectively 3) you know how to use it correctly. Do you find this valuable? |

"only a couple cons with this weapon (it is nice):Maybe not as good as some other calibers but give the round its due credit. Taking a 9MM to the chest is a far cry from a boo-boo. Also, the MP5 has selectable fire and in semi it's far from spray and spray. Personally, I've shot both it and the UMP 40 and the UMP was more uncontrollable in full-auto, though in semi I thought it was even more accurate. Do you find this valuable? |

"Silencer dude. Don't want the zeds knowing your wherabouts. That's assuming they can associate gun fire with their next meal. If they come running for any noise, setting off a car alarm and running in the other direction could cure the noise problem potentially. Also, I like the MP5 but where is the silenced model coming from? I've handled and know of two regular MP5's within fairly close proximity to my house, but I've never seen or heard of anyone with an MP5SD, they seem only to exist in the realm of COD.
