Real World Weapons
Dec 21 2009, 11:43 PM EST
We as members on this site often discuss types of weapons whether they be firearmsor bludgoens, swords, machete's etc..... that we would want to have in a "Z" Apocalypse. I am curious as to what type of weapons do members of this site currently own in the real world ? I am aware that gun ownership/gun laws vary greatly from country to country . If you live in a country that is prohibitively difficult to obtain/own a firearm, then what is your plan to obtain firearms/other weapons prior to God forbid that our world should descend into a "Z" Apocalypse or any "ELE" (exctinction level event) Do you find this valuable?

You will just get a bunch of people claiming to own G36's and ACR's or anything found in Call of Duty MW2.I am more proud of my ammo collection than my gun collection though. I've been loading 50 rounds a night for the past 2 months :) 16 pounds of powder to go. I won't say what all is laying around the hacienda, but I will say that my next purchases will be an FNH FiveseveN pistol and a Robinson XCR. Do you find this valuable? |

The ones that are considered mine the moment I turn 18 and are in my room right now are: (2) Ruger 10/22s, Marlin model 60 .22lr, Ithaca model 66 20g.My dad isn't very good at keeping secrets, and I believe he bought me a Remington 870, though I have no idea what model. No ARs or AKs where I come from. California has some pretty harsh laws. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Although I technically own no guns (under 18) there are several that are referred to as "mine" in my house.Mossberg 535 in 12 ga. Stevens Model 200 in .308 Marlin Model 60 .22 Springfield armory GI 1911 .45 ACP (yay, last year's Christmas present.) Unknown Colt DA .38 from the 1920s (it was my great grandfather's) Still in good shooting condition. Savage Model 10 ML muzzleloader. There are more guns in my house, but they aren't mine. Finally, for melee, I have a stick (read my profile. It's better than any baseball bat,) and a screwdriver. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

You just can't buy them. It's legal for your parents to buy a gun and give it to you as a gift. 3 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

"No, you can own guns at your age. You just can't buy them. "No, you can own guns at your age. You just can't buy them. It's legal for your parents to buy a gun and give it to you as a gift."thanks, I wasn't clear on it, but I thought in California it must be legally transferred through paperwork and all that good stuff, and still wouldn't be owned until proper age. please clarify. =) Edit: Just found this, but i'm not sure if it only relates to handguns. http://www.ag.ca.gov/firearms/ "GUNS AND CHILDREN--HANDGUN OWNER RESPONSIBILITIES Summary of Safe Storage Laws Regarding Children You may be guilty of a misdemeanor or a felony if you keep a loaded firearm within any premises that are under your custody or control and a child under 18 years of age obtains and uses it, resulting in injury or death, or carries it to a public place, unless you stored the firearm in a locked container or locked the firearm with a locking device to temporarily keep it from functioning." I'm lucky I guess as I am a gun collector and while I never sat down and counted them all I am sure I have well in excess of a 150 guns. Everything from original Flintlocks to modern assault type weapons and even a registered belt fed full auto machine gun [Maxim] ...about everything else in between too!..I used to have an FFL and sell guns at gun shows.... I buy and sell antiques for a living and have come across many good deals on guns while looking for other stuff. Is still easy for me to pick up guns, esp. rifles and shotguns, with out any paperwork or regulations. Just give the seller the cash and carry it away, ..Have more then plenty of ammo most that I bought years ago when it was still cheap. ..I also collect antique Swords, Knives and axes. Have a good many swords including 7 original Japanese ones. For years I worked as a professional blacksmith making copies of 18th century knives and axes [and a few swords] and could make any edge weapon I wanted. If you are just getting started with your "arsenal" I recomend that you study what you need / want and what to pay. Then look for a good deal, once you know your stuff if you see a good deal even if you don't want it for yourself you can buy it to resell and use the profit to buy what you do need. Never buy junk and never overpay because of hype. Don't buy new if you can help it, I go to flea markets and auctions and I buy great stuff for cheap. Lots of real deals out there just waiting for you to find them !.....T Do you find this valuable? |

I have a couple of all-but-worthless multi-tools, but I keep in mind that melee combat is probably a bad idea. If Zombie blood hits yours, you're dead. Imagine what kinds of scrapes you'll get running from a merciless Z-mob. Do the math, and you'd best be very careful, or stay at a good distance.

Thanks, I’ve been very actively and aggressively preparing for lack of a better term Mad Max beyond thunder dome for 11 years now (since I turned 18). I’m debt free and I have a very understanding and if you can believe it a very enthusiastic wife (she trains with me all the time). I handle the weapons and the equipment and she stockpiles the food, water, clothes and medical equipment trust me she does better then me. We pride ourselves that we can handle nearly every situation.
