Both have huge flaws. For me, zombieland was tainted by the "let's go to LA, to an amusement park, and turn on all the lights and noisy equipment."

Come the apocalypse, anyone heading to Disneyland to ride the teacups deserves a grisly death.

As for Rezzy movies, they suffer from Hollywood inconsistency. Just one point here: the scene with the commandos getting cut up by lasers. High tech and an effective weapon. So why do none of the Umbrella corp. guards carry anything near as effective when trying to contain the zombies in the following movies? Rez Apocalypse wouldn't have happened if one guard had been given a laser slicer.

Hello all
I am currently writing a Zombie screenplay and thought it would be a great idea to get some feedback from the "zombie experts" as to what kinds of scenes you would all like to see, stuff that’s never been done before, etc.

The movie I am working on takes place years after the zombie apocalypse where a small group of guys have lived together and really honed their zombie killing skills down to a science. It is a comedy with amazing zombie killing scenes. Not much horror, but gets very gruesome with the killings. This film has the angle of “what would an you and your friends do if this happened” the zombies in this movie are the slower, more traditional ones, not 28 days later type. So that leads to good zombie killing traps to be set, and good dialog whilst in the middle of killing.

I welcome all your ideas, for the ones I decide to use, I will include your name in a production credit

Thanks

please share your thoughts with me

Show that their survival is plausible. If they survived for "years", then they are surely living a self-sufficient lifestyle. Ammo is likely reforged and homemade. Electricity is a scarce, precious resource. Books are read for entertainment.

Don't show them living off boxes of Twinkies and canned soup, watching Sanford and Son reruns. If you do, I will torment you with Japanese Arse Eels. And for ****'s sake, if they are driving a vehicle, show where the fuel is coming from: fermented sugarcane to alcohol is just one way of doing it.

Well, thank you Rossimus for putting something down into your profile.

Now, could you elaborate some more on your requirements, setting, themes, backstory and perhaps some questions?

Several of us have ideas but we've also been 'approached' before from some claiming the same thing you are.

Major
I do not “require” anything, I have the setting, themes, back-story etc. I was just wondering what kind of scenes any of you guys would be interested in seeing…. For example - one guy suggested a scene where a characters girlfriend gets bit, and they decide to have sex one last time, and she turns into a zombie in the middle of it, and he ultimately has to kill her

Maybe you have a great idea for a zombie trap that you would like to see?
Maybe you have a great idea for a safe house?

All ideas/suggestions are welcome

Thanks

IMO, the best zombie movies are Romero movies or knockoffs of his work. My favorites are both of the "Dawn of the Dead" movies and "Diary of the Dead." These are the archetypal zombie movies and the standard by which all others are measured. "Zombieland," though entertaining, was lacking IMO.

I don't consider 28 ----- Later movies in the zombie genre, but the infected are close to zombies. They don't require headshots to kill and anatomically speaking, they're more human. They have warm blood and a pulse, and they suffer from starvation if they don't eat. Head trauma puts them down and they can be knocked out or debilitated by shooting them in the hip or spine.

What about Return of the Living Dead? Those zombies couldn't be destroyed at all since all the body parts were moving, destroying the brain didn't work and burning them just made things worse. It was a no-win scenario. and the end was an "oh, crap" moment.

wait a second....if they were slow it wouldn't really have lasted years...maybe just one or two, but if they're the slower type, nobody is really gonna be as cautious and they'll just go out on zombie killing sprees (people I know, I wouldnt be this careless unless I knew I was at a 100% fail proof advantage)
anyways, it wouldn't take that long if they were slow.....people could just pin em all up and blow them up with a homemade explosive (then again this is just my opinion, don't let me stop you)

Well Rossimus, I've thought about a courteous response:
I used the word 'requirements' as a general catch-all, not that you require anything

I came up with a very unique plot twist this AM but not sure if that is what you are truly looking for since the examples you laid out are more gimmicky.

Let us know a few parameters (how many people, how long since Z-day, general location) and maybe that will help scope suggestions.

I came up with a few questions and examples of 'purist' thought that exists among some members to include myself.
Would you like ideas on this thread or a page or a private message?

Thanks Major

so far the story has 4-5 guys, ten to 15 years into Z day
location is still to be determined, somewhere more rural than urban though

you can post in this thread or a private message, whichever your preference
i look forward to your ideas

Thank you Rossimus for this opportunity. A few thoughts to establish my thinking:
I was considering more like 10-15 guys/girls about 4 years post Z-day
(I realize 5 characters would be easier to develop)
Your opening parameter is quite depressing actually. 5 survivors 10+ years later looks like extinction is around the next scene. I can't speak for everyone on this site but long-term survival with group/colony is more of a goal and to re-establish civilization at some point.

To that end, I thought of something in the plot twist arena but it may not work for your effort (since it requires a larger group and 5 years or less in time format).

Before I post that, please note that there are some threads already built containing some innovative zombie traps, fortification concepts (bug-out locations) and movement by sea/boat, land plus the ideas on human 'raiders' being more dangerous than zombies.

Do you have any thoughts on that?

I like the Romero movies especially Day of the Dead and Land of the Dead.

All of the Romero remakes.

The Resident Evil series.

Return of the Living Dead was good but I agree, those Zombies suck... lol

I never did play Fallout 3 - Only 1 and 2.

Interplay, the original makers of the Fallout, is trying to develop Fallout Online but they have a long road ahead in both development and with Bethesda - Makers of Fallout 3.
