Extra info to be organized!

I will be constantly editing the first post according to additional posts on this thread so you only have to check the top.

1) Stay fit or get fit now if you're not. It's much easier to do when your energy levels are high, your knees aren't destroyed and you're still young. Its much harder once you're tired, have a full time job, kids of your own and bills.
3) Learn to build a fire without lighter fluid or gasoline. This is something I was taught by my dad when I was about 7 and its stuck with me ever since. Most people do not know how to do this without a lighter - you should be a fire making expert.
4) Learn to fish! It's fun and builds character by teaching patience. You don't have to have flashy gear too - much of my gear (including my pole) is home made. I've also got some decent fly fishing gear but I prefer using live bait and natural materials that I've crafted tools from myself. Make sure to know your state's laws regarding permits (if applicable) to prevent obtaining any fines.
5)Cheap items that are indispensable:, candles, matches, sterno stove with 2 or 3-pk sterno fuel, canteen, poncho, camp cookware, water jug (1 or 5 gal)
Also, you have at your fingertips all the knowledge of the world. Some of us only had scout manuals, survival books and trial in the field.
6)Tea packets, muffin mix, and seasoning packets could be used with food and stored in a thermos.
7)If you ever go shopping with parental units, sneak in 3-4 cans of your favorite food like spaghettiO's, beef stew, canned fruits, etc. Also, save any bottles for water storage later.
If you want really long shelf life, get tuna, or if your up for it... "SPAM..."
8)Just buy some butterfly bandages. Ive cut myself with a razor (NOT ON PURPOSE) a couple times, and after you get the bleeding to stop, they are great!
