My solved problem for Food
Jan 2 2010, 3:17 PM EST
Food will be a major problem in a undead world so I think it's best to plan before it happens..Within my backyard is weremost of my food is coming from. In my backyard I have a lemon tree, three tomatoe plants,(Spring time) A eggplant plant, 15 unions(the bulbs are reusable), and a orange tree from our neighbors (half of it hangs in our back yard). Inner city food I plan on Loot trips, paying a visit to a farm ( i know the farmer), eggs from the farm, dates from the farmer and other farms(i have alot of date tree farms were i live, And Small game(rabbits,Bird, squirel and fish from a pond in park) Into mountains I plan on fishing bass and catfish, netting too, hunting larger game(bears and deer), and cattle. P.S. also im drying food and storing them for later usage... How do you plan on getting food? Do you find this valuable? |

Its quite easy, get a food drier/de-hydrator and just peel up your veggies/fruit and put it in there for the correct amount of time and you got some dried foodalso Conmire, i don't care what you think, you just a random person who just started hating me about five minutes ago.. "Food will be a major problem in a undead world so I think it's best to plan before it happens..It isn't really a rounded list of vegetables is it? I think you are missing some key nutrients, and you need to be careful you don't end up with any of those medieval diseases that could be easily cured by a more varied diet. Spinich, yellow squash and sweet potatoes.Just for starters. Try to produce as many different colors as you can. Look for "heirloom" varieties of vegetables. You will be able to save the seeds and plant them in the following years. Do you find this valuable? |

You need to be sure that the vegetables you are planting grow well in your zone and your soil type. Take into consideration water needs, too. Plants that require a lot of water won't do so well in dry regions without irrigation of some sort. And drought-tolerant plants won't do very well in areas that are wet. Also, your only fertilizer you will have will be what you make yourself, from compost, animal manure and leaf mold. And if it dries I'm going to use a large pond within walking distance Do you find this valuable? |

Also you said your Neighbor's orange tree hangs over your fence? That would imply you live in a Suburban area, correct? Which would imply that your little garden that would be lucky to sustain you alone would be a target for any hungry person with in your area not to mention the Z- Danger of being in the Sub Urbs. Simply put you're going to have to bug out sooner than you think. As for the other part of your plan a Dehydrator is not necessary to make Jerky and the like. Other things I'm worried about is can you hunt? Have you ever hunted a Bear? Are you planning on doing this alone? Do you already no exactly where your going to go not just "to the Mountains"? P.S Not to be rude but Hunting in a Park (unless it's a National Park) is absolutely ridiculous. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
